This is happening next month at (but not in) Spokane Veterans Arena http://www.spokane7.com/blog/2016/jul/06/new-arena-local-beer/ I'll have to pass, as I'll be camping that weekend.
"No admission fee". If it's a $7, 10 ounce "plastic mug" you'll be getting 8 ounces of beer with a head for $12. If you "don't have a lot of money"... ha ha. My experience with the beer fests that were held in Riverfront Park some years ago were primarily attempts to separate you from your money with the enticement of mediocre beer. I stopped going. I'm all for this type of event but it should be a showcase for the area's local brewers to present themselves to the public. Not an attempt to milk your wallet.
Just FWIW, pricing is in line with the other major local brewery event, the state commission's fall festival at Avista - at that one, you get six 5-ounce samples plus mug for $20/advance. At this one, it would be $22 for three 10-ounce pours (not accounting for head issues, anyway) and the mug. Oregon Brewers Festival is a bit cheaper, $7 for a 12-ounce mug and $4 (four tokens) for a full pour.
Just checked the Spokane Brewers Festival website, which is up now, and in one section it says the mugs are 12 ounces (though it still says 10 ounces in other places) - so you might get an actual 10-ounce pour.
They've been posting four at a time the past few days on social media - list so far includes Badass, Bellwether, Black Label, Downdraft, English Setter, Icicle, Iron Horse, New Boundary, No-Li, Northern Ales, Orlison, Paradise Creek, Rants & Raves, River City, Steam Plant and Waddell's, with more to come tomorrow. Also, Sunday has been removed from the schedule so they're down to two days, some breweries had expressed concerns about staffing a full three.
I will be camping but I hope it's fun for those who go! I haven't had Rants & Raves is all from that list so far at least,
Anybody go on Friday? I didn't go, as I was supposed to go camping with my folks after I got off work last night. They were driving up from their home to grab a spot in a campground at Hunters in the AM yesterday, but their truck got into the mood for electrical mayhem somewhere around Fort Spokane. By the time I'd got off work last night, they had been towed to Davenport, where the problem was supposedly fixed, and they were driving back home in disgust.
Went down for a bit fairly early - was filling up fast, not as hot as I expected (though supposed to be hotter today). Be sure to check out the Young Buck/Little Spokane stuff.
