Spokane/E. WA/N. ID beer stuff (2024 thread)

Forgot to start a new thread to replace the one locked at the end of the year.

Whistle Punk has soft-opened their new brewery space in Millwood. The space was previously Millwood Brewing, which closed several months ago. By moving brewing into this space, WP is essentially reducing almost by half the distance kegs have to be trucked to their longtime tap room in downtown Spokane, which is staying open (previously, the owners/Brewers Matt & Craig Hanson were brewing in Newman Lake, near the Idaho border).

The brothers were originally to found a brewery together, I've been told, that was to be called Hanson Brother's. The story goes that the band Hanson put a stop to that, and then the one brother decided to "take off to the Great White North," as Geddy Lee once sang.

 

Well, they said it, but Geddy sang it.

 

The West End Brew fest is happening tomorrow. Even if I wasn't going to be working tomorrow, I'm rationing my beers these days so I wouldn't be attending, but if anyone who's going to be in Spokane tomorrow is interested, here's the deets:

I've not had too many of the style, myself, but I really like White Bluffs '.

 

The Spokane Lilac Festival Brew fest is happening on May 19:

Hopefully it's not 90° temperatures while happening entirely on unshaded asphalt, like last year.

 

Everyone was clustered in the shaded area just to the south of where all the breweries were set up and trying to decide if it was worth it to get another beer. Absolute shit show.

 

West Plains Brewing, in Airway Heights, WA, is hoping to open within the next month.

 

Popped into the bistro in Huckleberry's for a Diablo Breakfast Burrito to go on Sunday morning, and noted they have several beers on tap these days, and at whats nowadays a pretty good price.
Maybe I'll just wander up the hill next time I want a pint.

Will be exploring the Fish & Chips today.

 

I haven't had one of their burgers yet, but the fish and chips were quite worthy.

 

Btw, how are you such an authority or partisan for Dick's? I'd expect you to be more about Zip's, seeing as it's a Tri-Cities original.
