If you are looking for others who have sent ninja boxes then look no further than BobZ. No porch is safe. If you have ever made a post about scotch, Labrador Retrievers, or pierogis then odds are he has seen it and may or may not be planning to drop a box on your innocent and unsuspecting porch.

I put up an ISO last week for some Founders CBH.

Out of the blue, kingkong offers to send me the bottle for free because, and I quote:
"Your offer was very generous. Therefore, I'm just going to send it to you. Cheers"

I was (and still am) totally blown away by this random act of kindness to a total stranger.
Turns out, I had hard time excepting his generous offer - but we ended up working out a very nice trade.

Again, thanks Patrick for your generosity.
You are the true definition of a class act.

    Cheers!

I'm getting ready right now to pass out 3/4 of a 2012 Dark Lord to the guys at my local shop. Had my 4oz and it was not for me but I really want to spread the love to folks who may never get to try it.

When I have good beers to share I like to pull up in front of a friend's house and text them something like, "Got some killer beer. I'll be there in 3, 2, 1..." Then I ring the doorbell.

On the receiving end I'd also like to give thanks for the kindness and generosity of zipper8650. It wasn't that long before the holidays of 2012 when he saw a post of mine regretting that I was only able to get one Stone Mint Chocolate Stout, and opened it, and after tasting it thought that my mom would have loved it- well, he not only sent me another one, but got it to me in time for the family get-together, and sent three other Stone collabs as well. That was truly amazing, and it really meant a lot being able to share a beer like that over that time of year. Thanks again, man!

I enjoy sharing beer with my friends and sending unsolicited beer to fellow BAs.
Once I even sent Taylor Ham along with some beer.
If you have the ability to do it, beer it forward.

This is all awesome to read, and makes me glad I joined this site (and got active recently). I have completed a few trades recently, and everyone has been so easy to deal with. I'm looking forward to when I am able to get duplicates of things (or at least newer variations of things I've been able to try myself) so that I can spread the love. Unfortunately, NJ isn't a hotbed for things that other people can't get, but every once in a while I can find a gem. My wife and I host an annual craft beer swap (we drink it at our house like a festival, not just a bottle trade), and we invite people we meet at bars, friends, and even a BA I saw that lives near me). I've been gathering some world-class stuff to sample, so it's my own version of being an advocate.

I think NJ gets plenty of stuff you can trade.

    I love hearing stories of the generosity of BAs. I don't have a lot of cash right now, so I can't afford to go nuts and send crazy things to people, as I can usually afford to buy just one, if ANY of the interesting stuff ;_;

that said, I'm more impressed that people actually sacrifice their time to pack up a box with care and go ship it, more than I am impressed with the monetary sacrifice they make. I get having a bunch of money, anyone can have disposable income, but actually going out and doing something for a stranger? thats awesome.

that said, I'd like to thank Taxman for his generosity. After seeing my post of how frustrated I was that I probably would never try King Henry, he invited me and my gf over to try some with him, among many other tasty rarities I could never afford. Real stand up guy.

I do believe that Schlafly distributes in NJ...and I've heard great things. I think most people underestimate the draw of their local goodies...I can get Coolship stuff from Allagash on the reg...and people shit their pants over it...wish I had the resources to amass a giant Coolship trading stockpile.

I wound up trading a Friday KBS ticket for a hug, literally. Thanks to the Brown Paper Tickets SNAFU, my first attempt to place an order timed out. An hour later I managed to place orders for me and my wife and got successful confirmations. Only afterward did I get a confirmation for that first order, so I wound up with three tickets. Since they were scanning IDs at pickup, there was no way for me to use the third ticket. I wound up trying to give that thing away for a good 15 minutes before a guy outside the brewery who had already picked up his allotment said he knew someone that would be interested in the ticket. Apparently he had set up an IP trade with the other guy after picking up his own allotment but the other guy didn't have a ticket of his own. We walked up him, sitting at a table with his girlfriend in the taproom, and I handed him the ticket. His initial reaction was shock, then he asked if I was serious, followed by "what do you want for it". I told him i didn't want anything, the ticket only set me back $5.00 and that money was long gone. At that point he said "can I at least give you a hug". I accepted, said "enjoy the beer", and walked away. His girlfriend's jaw was hanging open in disbelief the entire time. I'm sure I could have turned that ticket into a profit, but the appreciation on the guy's face was all the payment I needed. I still have no idea who he was and he doesn't know me either; just two ships passing in the night. Glad I could help a fellow beer lover.

That's funny, because I frequently look at pictures of Labradors online while eating pierogis and drinking scotch (I mean, when I need a break from whalez, bro).

Now, the bait is cast.. . :-)

I've given away countless bottles of some rare and some not so rare beers here in SoCal. Nothing spreads beer advocacy like giving somebody a beer they'll love when they otherwise wouldn't have gotten it. Like aab said, their reactions are payment enough.

Thanks! I wouldn't be too upset to accept either!

I've actually lined up a bottle share this weekend with several friends from both in and out of town. I think I am more excited about it than they are!

You'd be surprised. Snake Handler would fetch get some good beer in return (I'm dying to try it). You get Founders, Ballast Point, Bells...

It's great as long as people understand the style they're about to taste and they appreciate how rare the beer may be. For instance my dad loves beer but he doesn't like IPAs. I could give him Heady Topper, Pliny, whatever IPA you can think of and he won't like it. Barleywines and sours I find similar, many people can't get into them right away. Also if I'm going to give someone a sip of a rare beer, I make sure they know it.
