Has anybody tried Lion Lager and Three Coins from Sri Lanka?? They are not listed on this website. I tried them last week on holiday.

    Cheers and Beers, Tristan

Lion stout was a drain pour for me but I'm going to give it a second chance. As for others I haven't tried any. Sri Lanka is kind of an obscure country for beer but, I like trying beers from obscure countries despite many of them being the same style.

I wasn't a big fan of the Lion Imperial Pilsner, but Lion Stout is awesome.

I had at least one beer from Three Coins while I was there this past January... I think just a pale lager, but maybe a stout as well? They weren't bad, but they sure weren't memorable.

I mostly drank Lion Lager the whole trip. It was disappointing how rarely I saw Lion Stout on a menu.

Edit: It looks like 3 Coins is on BA, but all its beers are listed as retired... not sure why that is.

Having spent over a year cycling through India, SL and SE Asia quite recently, I can say that both Lion products are far superior to what is generally available in these regions. The stout is, of course, the standout, and at 7.7% ABV, it is also a knockout. The lager is certainly respectable, though not a world class brew.

I spent 2 months in Lanka and never tumbled across 3 Coins.

Same here. Even have the second bottle waiting in the fridge.

Looks like I am in the minority, as I was a big fan of the imperial pils, and not so much of lion stout. I am really into Pilners right now and not so much into fruity stouts.

Love Lion Stout. Haven't had it in a few years though.

Lion stout has some strange flavors to it. I wasn't a big fan, but it has pretty good reviews on here, so I guess a lot of people like it.

Agreed. Lion Stout is by far the best (so far anyways. Some micro breweries in India are opening up). Haywards Black from Mumbai isn't too bad, relative to the competition.

Lion Lager is average overall, but certainly drinkable.

Lion Stout is on of my favorites, especially out of the can.

Really enjoyed Lion Stout last time I had it. Just remember its been around along time back when Americans raved about Schlitz popsicles and Brits thought John Smith's Bitter was a premium beer.
    Give the Lion some respect.

Lion Stout is a seriously underated beer around here. Awesome stuff. I read in one of Michael Jackson's books that the natives drink it with a shot of some local coconut booze so I tried some once with some Malibu and it was awesome.

If you're ever in the French Quarter in New Orleans you can get Lion Stout at the bottle store across the street from Cafe du Monde. Have them pour it into a cup and enjoy as walking around! It's the only place I've ever seen Lion Stout (very nice BTW).

Really? Lion Stout is faily well distrubuted. The brewery shut down completely to bottle water after the big Tsunami for almost 2 years a few years back and the beer was impossible to find at that point but I can get cans, 12 oz bottles and even 22 oz pounders by me these days.
