Thought about it but this cool wet weather put me into a Barleywine stout mood. I'm out of Avery Samael's and have a Mikellers Big Worse, it's about 2 and still to young, so I said DR time. I'm surprised the piney hopiness is still present. Not as over powering as when it was fresh. The sweet malt body is still present and big. Mouthfeel is thick and nice. Up next is either Rochefort 10, 8 or Avery Mephistopheles.
We just opened a bottle of DR1 within the last month, it's still drinking very well (especially considering it's over 6 years old) but starting to show some signs of oxidation. I haven't opened a DR2 in a while but would suspect it's getting to the same point. I wouldn't think you need to open them right now but I wouldn't wait too much longer before you crack them. Cheers!
See above post. This nasty weather did it in. I was worried about oxidation after reading some of the last reviews. I still prefer the English barleywines of the hoppier American style.
I'd love to trade you something cool for a DR1 if you're up for it. It's the only one I never got to try. Cheers, Chad
I picked up 6-9 from Gomezman78. And I saw a post that he was willing to trade some more. If anyone has 1-5 im interested in trading for them.
We should have Divine Reserve theme tasting where everyone brings one of the different vintages. Put us all together and we may have a whole set to share. I unfortunately only have a DR11 which should have been drunk months ago.
We use to do that at the Sunday tastings. Every time a new DR came out, we would have all of them at the next tasting. Then people started running out of the older ones, and we stopped doing it.
