Haven't seen St. Bernardus 12 (my top dog brew) at any of my stops within 10 miles of so of Holmdel NJ for about 3 months and decided to ask the manager at Circus Liquors in Middletown. He tells me the distributor has dropped it and I'd have a hard time finding it in the area.

Anyhow...does someone know where I can pick this up? I'd be willing to drive 50 miles or so from home which is Holmdel (exit 114 GS Parkway). Thanks!

I'm 80% certain that the Wegmans in Ocean Township will have it. I haven't walked the imports aisle in perhaps a month so that's why I hedged a bit on my percentage.

I can say for certainty that they have an ABT 12 magnum that's been on the shelf for a couple of years now virtually untouched.

Seems like a lot of places show they have it on BeerMenus:

If the NJ distributor (Allied Beverage, last time I checked) really dropped it, how can any retailer order it? Unless another NJ distributor(s) is also carrying beers imported by D&V International - if so, you could always check with them.

    I'd check with Allied first:
    Carlstadt (800) 272-1323
    Mt. Laurel (800) 841-1948

Not sure how "consumer friendly" they are.

To follow up, I was in Wegmans Ocean Township yesterday and saw nine bottles of ABT 12 on the shelf.

Thank you so much for the tip on Wegmans! Went there today and they had five 4-packs which I never see, so naturally I bought them all. Had some bombers too but the 4-packs are the way to go if available. $100 later I'm a happy guy!

BTW....the liquor store at that Wegmans was fantastic! Insane selection, super clean and the make your own 6 packs at $10.99 is incredible with hundreds of beers to choose from. Next trip I'll be making up at least a half dozen of those. Never knew about that store and its only about 15 miles from home.

a few years back I bought a whole case from a local beer distributor, and slowly drank over about 5 years up to the best by date.

Do you like it fresh or aged?

Great news you were able to stock up. Wegmans did a renovation perhaps three years ago(?) and did a fantastic job. Their beer buyer does a nice job of hitting every level of craft drinker with their stock.

Quite honestly, I've had bottles as new as 5 months and as old as 2 years and no obvious differences or improvements jumped out at me. This beer is just so damn good that I really don't think it matters.

Needless to say, I was impressed. Likely the best liquor store I've even seen. Headed back there in a few weeks. Would have taken some time and picked up some other beers while there but the wife was tagging along. $100 for five 4-packs is max pain threshold as she views beer as a complete waste.
