This group has always been helpful and friendly in the past. I’m going to be at my in-laws for the first time in a few years and planning on being at the St Charles Binny’s bright and early. What’s the allotment looked like in recent years? Two variants? Lineup by about 7? And is there anywhere else I should be looking at? I realize you may not want to blow up your secret spot, but one year I did try to drive around to a few different shops after Binny’s and struck out pretty hard. Also could be down for an IP trade, would have to figure out what I’ve got of value right now.

So, can anyone debrief me? Thanks.

I would say if you are lining up at 7am at binnys for a 9am location you will most likely miss out on a variant. This is from previous years, I have no idea how many variants were produced this year vs last.

Most of the suburb locations last year I recall from talking to friends got very little in terms of Coffee, Northwoods, Prop. and Reserve. I was at the Binnys location in Algonquin at 6AM, that was only good enough for I think 4 Regular, 2 Barleywine, and 1 Coffee.

Previous year went to St. Charles, granted, didn't arrive until about 630AM, and much of the same...but only got Regular, and Barleywine.

Really hard to gauge what the variant bottle counts will be in the suburbs, I worry with how many different variants there are now, this will spread the bottle counts pretty thin in the burbs as far as variants goes.

My advice, Woodmans opens their liquor store at 8AM (Binnys 9AM), give the North Aurora location (closer to St. Charles) a call and ask if they are getting all the Bourbon County variants. The Carpentersville location has always been a gold mine for me, for whatever reason I still choose to go there after I hit Binnys; last year walked into this spot after Binny's and still walked out with everything but Prop.

THEN...seeing as you'll have gotten bottles before 9AM, I 100% recommend hitting up Global Brew Tap House in St. Charles on Black Friday, they are tapping all the variants throughout the day, starts at 9AM.

It’s been a few years, but last time I went I was probably there by about 7 and was maybe 30 people back. Getting rough.

Also, I looked at Binny’s main page and didn’t find that info link posted above - that makes me really wonder how my family would feel about ditching to wait in line all night at LP - amazing. Of course it’s the question everybody has, but how early does someone need to get to LP to be in the first 1000? Probably should ask that elsewhere but wondering if anyone here has insight. If I drive in from Buffalo Wednesday and then spend Thursday night outside in a parking lot, gotta be worth my while.

I thought I heard they were closing down the parking lot for the line in LP

The lot will be closed starting thursday at some time. It's a bummer really as a suburbanite I don't know where else to park and will probably skip out due to this.

Yeah, I meant standing/sitting in the lot.

Reminder on Reserve (if you're looking for it) - 1000 at Lincoln Park, but only 6 bottles per non-LP Binnys

With the emphasis on Lincoln Park, and with the allotments suburban Binnys have been getting, being 30 back would, indeed, most likely shut you out of variants.

I feel like they pumped up the volume on the variants this year (especially Vanilla). Seems to be a lot to go around.

My dads bottle shop in AZ posted this for their Black Friday release and they are going to have all but Prop and Reserve on tap on Black Wednesday:

    - November 23rd -
Black Friday Goose Island Bourbon County bottle release. Doors open at 10am and we will have the following bottles for sale:
Original Bourbon County Brand Stout (no limits)
Bourbon County Brand Wheatwine (limit 1 or 2 bottles per customer depending on the line)
Bourbon County Brand Vanilla Stout (limit 1-3 bottles per customer depending on the line)
Bourbon County Brand Bramble Rye Stout (limit 1 per customer - super limited only 12 bottles)
Bourbon County Brand Coffee Barleywine (limit 1 per customer - super limited only 12 bottles)
Bourbon County Brand Midnight Orange Stout (limit 1-3 bottles per customer depending on the line)

Check out our November 21st event for the bourbon county tapping event.

I’d misread the info on the suburban allotments thinking it was 4 regular and a single bottle of a single variant - I may just try to show up at 3-4 AM and hope that gets me in the first 6 in St. Charles.

I was thinking - if I’m the first one there I could nap in the car, but how would I know when others got there? Leave a note to the second person there to knock on my car window when he shows up?

Last year I showed up a couple minutes after 4 for the jewel release in Naperville and was low 20s from what I remember. The first person in line showed up at midnight. Be it it is not st Charles, it’s the general area. Always hard to predict what time the fomo will make people line up.

Have hit up the St. Charles Binny's a couple times over the years as parents used to live in the area. Last year and 3 years ago, there was a group up front in camp chairs and sleeping bags. When the doors open, their wives come out of waiting in the car and add like 6 people to the front of the line. There's a Jewel event store in St. Charles though, so maybe that will spread the crowd/line out.

That’s BS - did anyone challenge the line-cutting?

7 at Binny’s STC got you a Prop + Coffee but not a Reserve or NW in 2017. Who knows this year
