It would be great if they did the Pumking flavors in one of their diabetes stouts.

I find it a drainpour, but I don't like spiced beer very much, others clearly love it so to each their own.

I just don't like pumpkin flavored anything, pumpkin pie, pumpkin flavored coffee, so I highly doubt I would like pumpkin beer; therefore, I've never tried it!

I had Schlafly Pumpkin Ale at a festival this weekend and it was delicious. I'm drinking a ST Pumking right now and I love this one as well. IMO, I'd put both of these at the top of my list ahead of DFH Punkin Ale which I just didn't care for last year. I have a Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin in the fridge to try after this one...

I had a bomber of it last night. It was delicious for the first 12 oz, but it was just a little too much sweetness after that point.

I like ST Pumpking and buy some every year, but my personal opinion is that Williamsburg Alewerks Pumpkin Ale and Elysian Night Owl are the best pumpkin beers hands down... I also personally think Blue Moon is underrated (only BMC sixers I invest in on a early basis)... Also just bought a 4-pk of Terrapin Pumpkinfest that I'm eager to try...

Last year's version of this thread made me conduct my own four-way taste test with ST, Weyerbacher, Dogfish Head and Bethlehem Brewworks. All were at least good by themselves, but drink them together and shit happens. ST is too much for me either way, but DH tasted burnt and Brewworks had a dill pickle aftertaste when sips were alternated. Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale was deemed to be my favorite ('course, I had just drank four 7%+ beers in a half-hour so maybe it's all meaningless)

If you want a lighter beer all the way around with a balanced pumpkin and spice, the Terrapin Pumpkinfest is really up that alley.

I enjoyed the few I've had so far.. A great blend of pumpkin and octoberfest, IMO.

Came here to say this after having one last night. I loved this brew. Not aggressive with the spices and pumkin, but you still taste it even with that big stout backbone. you want a subtle yet complex pumpkin ale, here it is.

Haha, I'm with you man, most try to get the pie and leave out the pumpkin, Pumking leads that parade.

I like more pumpkin less pie. Two I like are Captain Lawrence Pumpkin Ale, and Fire Island Brewing Pumpkin Ale. Lotta pumpkin in the mash in these 2, which is what most brewers shy away from as it thickens the mash and complicates the sparge

Haven't you heard? Pumking went out of style last year.

Seriously though, I thinks it's a delicious beer. Some people think it's "over spiced" but then they realize it isn't spiced at all - that, I think, is a feat in itself.

    Tastes like liquid pumpkin pie!

Pumking never goes out of style.

But I totally agree it's not really spiced at all, especially when compared to just about all other pumpkin ales. I never really picked up cinnamon and spices, just a ton of diacetyl. It's like buttered popcorn. It's the best use of diacetyl ever!

Not a big PumKing fan here either. Cigar City Good Gourd is awesome (same cinnamon taste from Hunahpu), DFH Punkin is very well balanced Pumpkin brew.

Pumking really is just awesome. Like the whole pumpkin pie (crust included). If you cant find or dont like Pumking, Thirsty Spiced Pumpkin Ale, Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin, and Brooklyn Post Road are solid as well.

    Agree 100%.

Diacetyl in a Czech Pils? Not really my bag.
Diacetyl in a complex dessert beer? Yes please.
