Heading to St. Louis this Saturday thru Wednesday to see the wife's fam. I've done my homework. Definitely plan to hit Side Project, Perennial, 4 Hands. Maybe Urban Chestnut and/or The Civil Life. Hopefully eat at Bridge and Quincy St. Bistro. Perhaps go to the Craft Beer Cellar and ask for Justin. A few questions that I've not found answers to: 1. We get in on Saturday night around 9pm. We're staying in Chesterfield that night. Is there a good bottle shop (or any kind of store with a good selection) between the airport and Chesterfield that's open late? It's likely to be 10:30 or 11pm by the time we get our luggage and rental car. I'd like to get a decent bottle or two for the hotel that night. 2. Are there any good spots out near Chesterfield that have Sunday Ticket and a decent taplist? 3. Looking for more recommendations for good restaurants featuring local/seasonal menus and good beer lists (beyond what I've got above). Those can be anywhere between Chesterfield and Downtown. We're staying in Clayton Monday & Tuesday nights. Looking forward to the trip. I haven't been to St.L since '09, and it looks like the beer scene has improved dramatically since then.
I'll check it out. I'd seen it doing my research, but didn't realize they sold to-go bottles. Thanks!
Can't help with Chesterfield bottle shops (although I suspect only supermarkets will be open that late), but the best bottle shop in the area is The Wine and Cheese Place, and they have a Clayton location for when you're there. Great selection, best prices.
Yeah, it's sort've on the bubble. I should've mentioned that I was there the last time I was in St. Louis, but might be a good option for a family gathering. Since it's a relatively short trip, I want to make sure to squeeze in the spots I mentioned in the OP, but I'll definitely be trying to maximize my beer opportunities.
On the way to the hotel you will have several Schnuck's in West County that will have decent enough bottles for your needs. Some have better selection that others, but most are pretty good. And as far as bars for football watching, The Post in Creve Ceour isn't bad. It's kind of divey, but food is decent bar food and there are some decent beers.
Ok, change of plans. We're staying in Maplewood tonight. Still won't be on the road from the airport until 10 or 10:30. Any recommended bottle shops or other stores with beer between there and the airport that are open that late?
Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton is open until 10. After that I think your best option would be a Schnuck's or Dierberg's.
Wine and Cheese Place in Rock Hill on Manchester usually has them for sale. Their Clayton location has free used ones from time to time but they'll have stickers all over them that say "contains alcohol" or "adult signature required"
