Hello, heading to St Louis from Chicago for a couple days with the family. Would like to maybe hit someplace we could get a good lunch/dinner and I can get some good local beers to go along. Staying downtown near Busch stadium. If that doesn't happen maybe recommend some places to at least pick up some bottles to bring home. Also any good beer recommendations that I don't get in Chicago. Thanks for any help.

You might have better luck in the Midwest forum as that is where Missouri is. Good luck.

I don't know about hours or what days it is open but the Side Project cellar is a must (from what i've heard)

4 Hands Brewing Company, not sure about the food, but they make some pretty good beer.

I recommend Urban Chestnut downtown. It's as close to a German beer haul as you will find anywhere outside of Munich, IMO. Great brews, a decent food counter, and very social. My husband and I go there with family often. Civil life has a great British brews feel to it. Fantastic eats, too. I am NOT a sandwich person but they have some good wiches.

Four hands is legit. Side project is the new "it brewery" on the scene and it lives up to the hype but I am not sure about food for either Side Project or Four Hands The Schlafly tap room is good, too. Try the rarebit! That's probably as "close" as you will get for a place with good food and brews downtown. Cabs are fine. Laclede is our usual go-to in STL. My husband's family lives just outside the Delmar Loop and we go around and do brewery runs quite often when we are in town. It's a lot of fun.

I'm from the Chicago area originally (boo Cards, go Cubs go) but STL is a cool little city. However, never ever ever try their "pizza" or eat anything with provel. You can find some decent Italian food on the Hill but steer clear of anything provel-laden. Yuck.

Coming today to STL. I want to bring back some beers that I can't get in NC. I would prefer some of the rarer beers. I like BB aged stouts or sours. Any suggestions where I can I get some and suggestions on what I should get.

Just to give you an idea, I'm cellaring the following beers:

    BB Double Jesus
    Cognac Jesus
    BA Omnipollo Omenegang
    BA Sexual Chocolate
    Woot Stout
    Prairie Bomb
    Wicked Weed Black Angel
Mexican Cake(Going to drink it though)
    13 Brooklyn Stout

Walkable from Busch Stadium are Bailey's Range (burgers with 29 local taps) and The Bridge Tap House and Wine Bar (100 taps with upscale small plates). I love both places.

And Bailey's is great with kids. Homemade ice cream is fantastic.

Our go-to place for beer hauls is Randall's. We get rare Bells there all the time. They would definitely have Woot. They had it the last time they were there. The others I do not know about. I love barrel aged stouts and they had quite a few. It's basically a liquor warehouse. They have a beer section the size of a small grocery store.
