Hello midwestern BA's, I just secured a summer internship in St. Louis, ironically with Anheuser-Busch. Before you all start chewing me out for working for the bug guys, it's a great career opportunity for me.

My question is, what are some places (breweries, bars, etc.) that I need to hit up this summer? I'll be looking to maybe snag some regional brews that I can't get in Indiana while I'm there to add to the cellar. Thanks in advance for all your opinions and info!

There are plenty of places here for great beers.

I can recommend the International Taphouse in Soulard, Perennial, Urban Chestnut, Schlafly Taproom, Schlafly Bottleworks, and Civil Life as places to check out. There are many more I didn't list.

For beer stores check out The Wine and Cheese Place in Clayton and Randall's.

I would vote for Cicero's. Great food and 58 drafts last summer. Reasonable prices, frequented by many local families.

The Bridge is awesome. Cicero's is very good.

Wine and Cheese has a great selection and good prices. Some Schnucks have great selections and even better prices.

...And also be sure to bring as much Three Floyds from Indiana when you do

I brought home 2 cases, mostly Stone & Founders. My (then) wife was pissed. Guess I should have bought more!

I'm not familiar with the distribution in Illinois. Are there any great items to be had by hopping the state line?

Depending on your luck, you may find some stuff by Dogfish Head, Lost Abbey, and Three Floyds. But most of that hits Chicago, so what makes it to the STL metro part of IL is going to be spartan at best.

Dogfish Head and Three Floyds sound intriguing. Sucks that you say the odds are so low.

Was there in December to visit my parents-#1 place to visit is mos def' Urban Chestnut IMO the best brewery in STL. We also really enjoyed Civil Life and the Stables (for the guest list and the location).Revisited Schlafly for the zillioneth time since 1991 (not as good as they once were-seemed to slip in service, quality, and food), Perennial Artisan Ales, Buffalo, and I may have missed one too.

Just an FYI, the Stable, which has for some time now been operating as American Craft, seems have closed over the weekend, and nobody can reach the owner to find out if it is permanent, as many of us now believe.
