I’m going to be in St. Louis Black Friday for a Friendsgiving and am looking for some beer events to hit up. Already hitting SP for BBT, more looking for best places to possibly get BCBS or if there’s any other releases that day.
For BCBS, it's a race around town. Last year I think I got 12 stops in before I called it a day. Starts around 6, stores open at different times.
I'm not joking. It's harder to find stores that don't have it than those that do. Everybody just starts at whatever store they choose and goes around town to pick up bottles. There's not any "main" store
As a fellow out of towner, I’d hit up Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton. The last time I was there they had Cantillon and a killer tap list.
I don't think Craft Beer Cellar carries any AB beers (thankfully), but rest assured they'll have a heck of a tap list that day (and really every day there's at least a couple hard to find beers on tap). If you're chasing BCBS, I suggest waiting til Saturday or Sunday, or even the following weekend and take a trip to southern Illinois, visiting Scratch, White Rooster, and/or other breweries, and hitting up the local stores in the Marion/Herrin/Carbondale area at a leisurely pace, because it usually sits on shelves for weeks because they get a lot (they sell the crap out of AB stuff down here) and demand isn't huge (in Herrin and Harrisburg Speakeasy it took a few months to sell out the last 2 years). Not usually any variants to be had though, other than barleywine (which does go quickly).
Not to highjack the thread, but I'll be in town Saturday around 11:30/12 for the BBT release and to drink some bottles at SP. Anyone know of any bars or breweries that will have any cool events/tappings? Not necessarily BCBS, just anything special worth checking out.
After drinking BBT and D8, I don't think there would be anything else that would be on the same level. With that being said however, I'd suggest a stop at Schlafly because it is so close. A trip to 2nd Shift couldn't hurt either.
