Very excited to head to St Louis for a weekend trip! Here is what I've put together thus far as possibles. We'll spend more time at Side Project. Any help from the locals or those who have visited on a beer trip is appreciated...

    Side Project
    Schlafly
    4 Hands
    Perennial
    Urban Chestnut
    Bridge (?)
    ?

The Civil Life! Good beer, good food, and friendly people. Also, fun atmosphere, think the inside of lodge or log cabin; with a large collection of board games on their second floor. If you go, bring cash, they don’t take cards.

All good choices. I always suggest the trio of Side Project, Schlafly Bottleworks and Heavy Riff as they are pretty close to one another. I also suggest ITAP Soulard over Bridge as they have a good patio and you can bring in great BBQ from Bogarts down the street or order Mexican from Mission Taco next door. Also, 4 Hands is very close to ITAP Soulard

A lot of what I would suggest really depends on where you are staying

Thanks for the feedback. Going to try to stay somewhere as close to SP as possible which would ideally mean including Schlafly and Heavy Riff then. I assume we can walk that route...

You can walk from Schlafly to Side Project, but you may want to drive to Heavy Riff. It's close but not walking close

The Bottleworks to Heavy Riff is 1.8 miles. I'd consider that walkable.

True, though a lot of that walk is uphill

It would be downhill coming back! Or reverse the order.

How was the trip? I'll be driving thru StL on June 27th and would love to hit up Side Project. Do they do smaller pours or flights? I like to drink sours in smaller pours plus, looking at their current draft list, there is a lot to try. I've already been to Schlafly, 4 Hands, and Perennial so I'll probably check out Heavy Riff as well.

Unfortunately, no small pours or flights at this time (that I know of)

Glad to hear you might stop by Heavy Riff as well. Their Easy Wind Cream Ale is really nice, as well as all the others.

This is good to know. Is it listed on the menu? Was just over there Saturday

No it wasn't listed on the menu.

I could only have one glass, and asked the bartender which was better the batch #2 or batch #3. She told me to try a half pour of each (which I did).

Guys, any recommendations on where to stay in the area? I want to hang close to Side Project and Schafly, Heavy Riff as we are big walkers so we'll hoof it back and forth between the 3 while we're there. I can do an online search but before I did that I figured I'd get the skinny from the locals about the hotel scene first. :-) Not looking for anything fancy nor expensive..

Closest hotel is probably the one off Hanley and 40/64. Don't remember which chain it is but its next to a Houlihans and Twin Oaks Pizza

La Fosse bottles at SP cellars, then go to Nicks pub for a great selection of beers at insanely cheap prices

I just got back from STL, and had one beer from 4 Hands (Single Speed) and a flight plus the American IPA at Schlafly Bottleworks. The AIPA is really, really good, I thought... great aroma, very good flavor.
