Anyone know if we'll get warlock this year? Seems that last year we got boned.

Pumking is in the distributor's warehouse as well, but they want to move the last 20 something cases of Compass before they release it because it has an overlapping barcode.

    OK, now I'm really confused.

Based on your OP, I assumed that you really liked the beer, and were upset about it's lack of availability in our part of the country. However, if I understand your last post, you now say it sucked (or at least last year's version did).

Why would you be concerned about the availability of a beer that you thought sucked?

I think he's talking about Pumking. Took a left without signalling.

    I think you're "right." Now I'm less confused. :-)

Especially as I've always found pumking to be a sweet, hot boozy mess.

Have truly never understood the fascination with Pumking, though it improves with a year in the cellar.

John, yeah I meant PK. I personally really enjoy it, however last year wasn't all that good. Warlock I've never had until last night but I heard this year was a bit better than last year. I've never got any "boozy" character from PK... Maybe you had the special "edition" version...

Doesn't sound like it according to the threads about it up in the beer talk forum.

When I lived back East, ST Pumking and DFH punkin were two beers you felt obligated to sample every summer/fall when they were released (sort of like when Troegs Mad Elf is release each year). So I've had a lot of Pumking over the years, including the barrel aged version. It's not a bad beer, but at least for me, the sweetness and heavy spices, coupled with the near 9% abv. have always seemed a bit much. My GF likes to blend it with the ST creme brule, and frankly, I've come to find out, that if I'm going to drink pumking, that's how I prefer it as well.

I have a deal with my blood sugars, I promise not to drink Southern Tier beers anymore and they promise not to kill me.
