Breweries from across the world can be found imported into any country, but sometimes certain beers of their portfolio are missing from the market which imports them. Here is a short list of beers I’ve had abroad, but strangely cannot find them stateside while I can find their stablemates sold here. Erdinger Urweisse - The best I’ve had from Erdinger. I had a bottle in Brazil, and while several Erdinger products are imported, I’ve never seen this one for sale in the United States. Fuller’s Golden Pride - Had in Brazil and the UK, tastes similar to the Vintage Ale to me, again never seen for sale in the United States. Hoegaarden Grand Cru - Like a very strong Hoegaarden. I would have thought this would also be brought over considering the foothold Hoegaarden has in the states. I had this, you guessed it, in Brazil. Leffe Radieuse - I found this tasty. Had in The Netherlands. For some reason, Leffe’s variety in the states is limited. Weihenstephan Tradition - A delightful Dunkel Lager which I’ve seen for sale in Brazil, had mine in Germany, and while Weihenstephan’s showing is strong in the states, Tradition is MIA stateside. This is not a wish list for a brewery to be imported, but rather a particular beer from a brewery which already is imported. Please, no limited run beers. Which stablemates would you like to see imported where you are at?
Hoegaarden Grand Cru used to be available here, that was.a great beer. I’d like to see Guinness Foreign Extra Stout return. We sometimes get Harvey’s Russian Imperial Stout, I’d like to get pretty much anything else from them.
In the past I was able to buy Golden Pheasant which is a Bohemian Pilsner brewed in Slovakia. This was the best imported Bohemian Pilsner IMO. I wish this beer would return to being imported to the US. the last time I was able to enjoy this beer was a bottle I bought at a Tesco supermarket in Prague a few years ago. Na Zdravi
Wasn't the first year(s) of Vintage Ale based on Golden Pride, but bottle-conditioned rather than pasteurized? Still found commonly around me (after the 2010 reintroduction) and still on the Guinness USA website. https://www.guinness.com/en-us/beers/guinness-foreign-extra-stout
I’m pretty sure that you’re correct about Vintage ale, I just saw that mentioned in a video. I think they change it up annually now, but we don’t get Vintage anymore. Maybe it’s due to the East being much closer to Europe, but you guys get more English beer than we do.we haven’t had Guinness FES for years, we never did get Old Peculiar. I do realize that Guinness is Irish, but outside of FES, we get the same Irish stuff.
I looked up the Erdinger Urweisse to refresh my memory, as I believe I had this somewhere when I traveled in Europe and stayed in a couple cities/towns in Bavaria, and in Salzburg, Austria years ago. A publication I found said Erdinger Urweisse was discontinued. https://www.thebelgianbeercompany.com/p/world-beers/erdinger-urweisse-pack-of-12/#
