Did some research, only found a couple mentions of this but it seems like the answer is no. However Iodophor should kill it provided you sanitize the entire vessel correctly? Anyone have experience with this?
@OldSock has used his Better Bottles for clean beers after fermenting wilds in them for at least a year. Pedio is in his mix. He flip-flops between using StarSan and Iodophor to keep the bugs from growing accustom to one or the other. Not sure beyond that.
there's some logic in that, but not sure if it is necessary. unless the yeast or bacteria can mutate so the pH from phosphoric acid (i assume that's what kills them?), then it is fine. not sure if mutagenicity to that can easily take place.
I swap between iodophor and starsan regularly, using iodophor when I am going to have my hands in the work for a longer period of time, such as when bottling, and starsan for quicker things like setting up a carboy. I always thought they were equivalent in effectiveness when used per directions, but the iodophor does not bother the skin on my hands, especially the knuckles, like longer exposure to starsan. I have lacto, pedio, and brett going in the same room as non-wild beers, and never experienced cross-contamination.
Dead is dead...don't think pedio can adapt THAT fast. Now, if you're in the habit of not mixing your starsan to manufacturer's recommendations, then all bets are off...must be that Tylenol/Ibuprofen alternating logic. Idophor has the added benefit of tasting like shit if not rinsed thoroughly. No cross-contamination here...so far.
Pedio, Lacto & Brett are just like any other organisms or yeast... StarSan kills them all. What you want to be careful with is tubing and any nooks and crannies that any bug or yeast can hide... Sanitize 2x or just keep two sts of "cold side" gear, and don't mix them...
