By "thing of star san" do you mean the bottle of undiluted syrup or the spray bottle or other container with the properly mixed solution? Star San is mostly phosphoric acid, so letting it sit on a counter top for an extended period of time in its undiluted form will probably cause damage...

Some shitty linoleum type stuff. Thankfully we haven't redone the kitchen yet.

I have some undiluted starsan counter stains from way back when. The lesson learned was to keep starsan under the sink rather than on the counter.

Countertops and pure StarSan is no match made in heaven.
I have several permanent stains to prove it.

Now...there's a dish towel on the countertop anytime any form of StarSan is out from under the sink.

    In other news...
What's up with this product's shitty caps?
The caps have cracked on every bottle ever owned.

I save the ones that didn't break, usually the one on the side that you don't normally have to use, to replace the ones that will break.

They're easy to over tighten. You can find CB (carbonated beverage) caps that might fit over the top tight enough to hold some pressure to help measure. Some work much better than others.

The OEM caps fail w/out over-tightening.
Must be something in the water.

I have a bass boat-load of 'expired' PET bottle caps.
    Might could re-purpose them.

Reasons I haven't had this issue:

I'm a clean freak, so I don't let pools of liquid hang out on my counter top for too long.

I try to put equipment away when I'm done with it.

My fiancee is a clean freak and will not let any of this happen.

I understand the abilities of certain types of plastics, and don't over tighten the lid (though mistakes will happen because we are human)

    On that note... Cheers!

I prevent this issue by using iodophor.

It will also rust the shit out of a refrigerator if left on top and leaks.

So you get a brown stain instead of a white one? :stuck_out_tongue:

They seem to fade over time. I've started setting towels down on the kitchen counter when I bottle to prevent more "WHITE RING MADNESS"...
