I was brewing yesterday and accidentally left my star san water sitting in one of my fermentation buckets overnight. Will this have any negative effects on the bucket?

Very doubtful that there would be any damage to the bucket. Rinse and carry on. You might need a homebrew tho, so you can relax and don't worry.

I'll be having some when I get home, unfortunately I had to commit blasphemy today and chug 2 MGD's (have a long day with my family ahead and didn't want to waste quality brew). I didn't think it would cause any damage but I have read that using sanitizer longer than needed could cause corrosion so I just wanted some reassurance.

I leave Starsan in my bottling bucket for weeks (up to 2 or so) at a time. From what I read, you can you Starsan a few times before discarding; the specifics being that you can use it 3 PH and below. I never thought about damage to the bucket, thou I think that's unlikely; I've not noticed ill effects.

I've left StarSan in buckets for months at a time. Bucket still works.

The bucket plastic, and the plastic starsan comes in are probably pretty similar, the bottle holds a much more concentrated form. You should be fine indefinitely. Plastic isn't really susceptible to corrosion.

I have had starsan in the same bucket for like 8 months. I just keep topping it up as needed.

IMO, I always put the starsan I used when bottling into a fermenting bucket. That way it ready when I want to brew next time.

As long as its only a couple of weeks. After that i think the starsan loses its viabilty.

Yes, any bacteria or yeast you were cultivating in that bucket will be greatly diminished.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't think it would have an effect but wanted to double check.

I happen to list to a brew strong podcast today that dealt with this issue. They had on a guy from Five Star ( maker of Star San) He said that unless the bucket is covered it will loose its potency in 24 hours and will stop working all together after a few days. So keeping if your keeping it around for 2 weeks well its not really doing anything at all cleaning wise.
