I've given Stash from Independence Brewing several tries in bottles and while okay, it's not something I buy very often. This Saturday at the Freetail bottle release, an employee was going around with a pitcher of Stash advertising it as PTE. Well, obviously it wasn't, but the smell and taste was pretty damn close. In fact, if the bottled version tasted like this tap version, it would be my main go to. Has anyone else noticed this? People talk about the 'drop-off' of bottled Pliny as it ages...could it be the same with Stash? Is it a similar recipe? I was going to leave with a growler fill but unfortunately they had removed Stash to make room for one of the released brews.
True, but with beers like PTE and Sculpin, the drop off seems to make them lose their 'special' quality, while with lesser beers it's not quite as big a deal.
Let me rephrase my original post...Have you found that stash on tap is indeed very similar to PTE in aroma and taste vs. the bottled edition?
im not sure ive ever had stash on tap, but the last time i had a bottle, it was literally the worst IPA i have ever drank.
I really enjoy Stash in both draft and bottle form. And I loved Scott's PtE gag. I'll take free pours of Stash any day.
I concur... since the recipe has been redone, it is solid. This is my go-to beer on Sixth Street. Almost every bar has this, Fireman's 4, Shiner and BMC in bottles. I don't think there's a difference between tap and bottle if you're finding it fresh. Unfortunately it seems to sit in lots of convenience stores and supermarkets around town.
