A friend is headed to state college from Iowa for a few days. Anything good on the shelf that is unique to the area?

    Thanks.

Havn't had the chance to go yet, but I know The Hopshop Beer Market in State College, PA? Im guessing has a lot off good beer. Get a lot of limited release brews too. The only other shelf beer would be Wegmans. They carry local PA beer as well as some from the breweries in State College!

Does Otto's still sell bottles? Some of their stuff is solid to good.

I was just at the Hop Shop a few weeks ago. They carry most of the Ottos bottles, as well as the Maibock from Elk Creek Café. They also carry, Jolly Pumpkin, Sixpoint, Mikellar (be careful, some shelf turds), Birra Del Borgo, Weyerbacher, and voodoo, as well as the standard DFH/Bells/Stone/Founders.
If you are looking for a bar, Zenos is the place to go. THey usually have some Lost Abbey or Port Brewing bottles, and at times I've seen Hair of the Dog, Bourbon County Stout, Cantillion, and Bourbon County Barleywine. All at very reasonable prices.

Everything in State College is at a very reasonable price. The bars there are the cheapest you'll likely ever see. In my 4 years at University Park and the 4 years since I graduated, I never once went to Zenos. The next time I go back, it's a must.
