Just left state line. More time would have been nice. Was able to get evil twin, maine beer co., Nebraska brewing co, mikkeller, and pinner. So hard to see all those people in the back enjoying good beer and not be able to partake. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

I'm lucky that I've had most of the beers on tap, but it was a shit show back there. Everyone was surprised with how many people showed up.

I ended up driving for 2 hours total, to not meet any BA's and spend $100+ that I didn't need to. Well, at least I got some damn fine beer out of it, including my most expensive bottle to date (which I didn't think I'd have topped anytime soon, but there was a surprise bottle there).

I want to like this place, but everytime I go it's full of shelf turds and easy to get beer.

Wow --> Ratebeer's survey put State Line in the top 5 places to buy a beer (google it)- where is your go-to bottle shop that exceeds this?

I have plenty of great shops and breweries to buy from locally in Chester County. I don't put any weight into reviews, so a top 5 rating on ratebeer means nothing to me. My experience has been there's a ton of selection, but with that comes a lot of stale beer.

I was surprised at how many people were there too. I have no idea where you come up with shit show. In what way? I never waited more than 15 seconds to get a pour. It was a great run event as usual. They handle crowds easily by pouring from pitchers that they have runners to refill. The only complaint is the people who get their pour and drop back two steps forming a wall in front of the completely open bar. This happens every time and is a problem easily solved by an "excuse me". They had over a dozen people behind the bar to pour. If you had entered the event there were at least 3 BA's there having a great time.

That's just my go to word for something that looks really busy. I should have gone in. I still had fun. Maybe next time.
No. It was the Baladin Lune 2012.

I love Exton Beverage, Victory Brewing for Victory's beer and Wegmans in Great Valley. I'm not a Whale chaser, so if you're looking for rare beers, these places most likely won't have what you're looking for, but they have all have asolid quality selection. I also like Whole Foods and The Beer Yard in Wayne, but they're not in CC.

They got at least six cases of BCBS on Black Friday and it was gone in an hour. I was lucky to score one bottle. Haha.

If your in the area check out my buddy's shop also. Vlamis Liquors. I grew up in those small towns (North East). Vlamis is 5 mins towards route 40 from state line and while he doesn't have the quantity he has quality beers and a growler station.

So I will be about 20 minutes from stateline this weekend. Is it worth taking the extra 40 minutes (plus shopping time) round trip to check out the selection?

Agree with @YamBag that it depends on where in Chester Co. you are when you visit, WF Devon is close enough and worth a visit. There is Beer Store Malvern also, love it or hate it...
Probably tough to offer you anything tradeworthy, but I'd love some Carton ;-)

I always stop in to Vlamis when I'm down this way- for sure a solid stop as well!

Yes. And as mentioned, add a chunk of time for browsing/buying!

I've only been to State Line 4 or 5 times, but I have seen customers come out of a back room with stuff that wasn't on the shelves on more than one occasion. Mostly Cantillon and some limited barrel aged stuff. I just assume they are treating their loyal customers, which is fine by me.

I don't know what to say about that, or what to make of it. In the past, I know there have been times when Robert has mentioned that they expect to get something in, and that they'll give you a call once it arrives. My guess is that if they call you and you ask them to hold onto something until you can get up there to pick it up, they would probably do that. However, I think most stores would do the same thing.

Not sure if that's what you saw going on the time you stopped by, but it could have been.
