This is my first trip to Chicago and I am really looking forward to it. So far I know I want to check out Revolution brewing and go to a Binny's. Any other suggestions for cool beer bars in the area? Any help would be great.

    Thanks

Near the Drake, there's Clark Street Ale House (no food), Jake Melnick's (more imports than locals) and even Eataly is worth a visit. I think the Revolution taproom is better than the brewpub but there's no food (stop by Honey Butter Fried Chicken first - lunch stops at 2pm - and bring your own food; Sundays are sleepy and marvelous). Or if you do visit Rev's brewpub, you should also visit Piece - and take a pitstop at Map Room along the way.

To say nothing of visiting other breweries, of course. Half Acre and Haymarket are good ideas. Plenty of other stops near both of them, too.

Check out Farmhouse in Rivernorth or The Publican in West Loop.

Def check out Clark Street Ale house for something that is close to u. great spot downtown. haymarket isnt too far either and they brew some good beers. if u venture out of the area, maybe map out a few spots u can hit near the el. it makes for an easy cheap way to get around the neighborhoods. u could def make a "blue" line or "brown/red" line bar crawl outta it.

If you go Binny's, I recommend the Binny's in Lincoln Park as they typically have the best beer selection. About a half mile north of there is Local Option, good food/great beer. Then you could either head west towards Revolution and the Maproom, or north towards Half Acre/West Lakeview Liquors/The Fountainhead/The Bad Apple or even Hopleaf (further north). These places are not super close to the Drake, but most all are accessible from the "L" or a 10-15 minute car/cab ride.

I plan on visiting soon as well, so I appreciate all the tips!

Any other gastropubs worth checking out?

@Rollzroyce21 for gastropubs visit Owen & Engine in the Logan Square neighborhood.
