My friends and I will be staying in Cooperstown for a couple nights next week and I was wondering if there are any good bars/restaurants to hit up and if there are any good bottle shops in the area. Thanks!
The tour of the Cooperstown Brewery is also really good. Their beers don't seem to get much distribution, so I don't think many people have had them. Their styles are completely different than Ommegang; they go for more traditional English style. But they make an awesome stout and a porter, and their Old Ale is excellent. http://www.cooperstownbrewing.com/beer.htm
Alex and Ika's for top notch food and beer Doubleday Cafe for decent food and beer Kooley's bar. Spurbeck's deli is the closest thing to a "bottle shop" in the area. Nearest big one is Binghamton or Utica. Also check out Butternuts Beer & Ale. 25 mins. west of Ommegang. Super delicious wicked cheap craft beer.
Disclaimer: Completely unrelated to beer - Please tell me you are a baseball fan and that you are planning to spend at least 1 full day (and maybe 2) at the Hall of Fame....
+1 to Butternuts and +1 to Cooperstown Brewing Co. They're actually both owned by the same people and the beer has gotten amazingly better at CBC. Butternuts has special styles on draft that aren't available in cans, so bring growlers!!
Also- Butternuts also runs a golf course with a restaurant on-site. The restaurant is called Clubhouse and Brewery- beer, wine and liquor and awesome food.
