Anyone heard the details? So odd to make the post that you are leaving and then delete and pretend it never happened. Should at least be acknowledged.

I'll probably be avoiding them until they get their stuff together. So sad.

They apparently have a guy in from Hooker as the brewer now. They posted tonight on Facebook about making "minor" changes to the brewery. Coalesce and Geek Nip are apparently available tomorrow among others; I'll probably not be returning for a while either but I'll be curious to hear how some of these beers are turning out now.

This sounds fantastic. Relic has been quietly doing great things @ their brewery, and Jon obviously knows how to make a damn good beer.

I'm guessing that the beers that are currently available were still brewed by Jon, so I'd expect them to be fine. As for the future, who knows....

Found the vagueness of that post to be a little irritating considering all the speculation and concerns. Also, if Jon is out and they choose to shrug it off as "minor" changes, they should expect people to be majorly upset.

I figured as much, but I didn't want to make any claims one way or the other. Plus, I was selfishly hoping whatever happened might have been resolved.

Oh wow. So Jon is def out...crazy...

So I assume that the business owns the recipes? Curious as to what will happen to Big Bad Bunny...so good

It's a mess all around. Don't exactly get how these guys think that screwing Jon out of his part in the brewery is going to work well for them. Far as I've ever been able to tell SHBC has pretty much been Jon, don't quite understand how they think things will last without him.

Knew something had to be up when I saw steady habbit seriously posting about fizzics. Heard these guys were even looking into contract brewing 30 bbl batches at stony creek, really seems like they didn't understand the kind of brewery they were getting into.

Apparently, the new brewer is Austin Japs who most recently brewed at Hooker. He may have previously brewed at Sea Dog in Maine but I can't confirm that.

If Austin had a hand in contract brewing some of Relic's more recent hoppy offerings, that bodes well.

Dunno, this reeks of investors getting over involved. I doubt Jon left a passion project like SH on amicable terms. Austin may end up running into the same problems. Eventually they're going to have to start making their own recipes and who knows if they'll be able keep their customers with what will probably be noticeably different beers.

Recipes are not copyrightable. They are statements of facts, nothing more. Jon can take the recipe and make the exact same beer and there's nothing anyone can do about it. He just can't name them the same.

I'm gonna swing thru SH today for a couple growlers. I'll be in and out before Fizzics, but I'm def curious about the vibe and how the beers are tasting.

Let us know. I had set up my Friday afternoons this fall in anticipation of going down pretty regularly, but don't want to waste the trip!
