Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately I can't justify that price for IPAs and the like but if I see your beer on tap I'll be sure to try it out. Best of luck.

@WeaponTheyFear That's part of the reason I didn't really want to offer anything bigger than a 750ml fill to start off. The prices aren't high to try and take advantage. We brew 2.5bbl batches and end up yielding about 50-60 gallons per batch. We also buy 20 bags of malt per month and buy most of our hops at a higher cost than most breweries. It's like anything else where it's volume driven. It's hard when people bring up NEBCO (who I friggin love) pricing while they have a big silo sitting outside and are purchasing thousands of pounds of hops per variety. I know you didn't bring that up but I am just giving an example. I understand though if your not willing to pay a higher price for a new brewery. It's also worth noting that we have not taken 1 single bank loan to start this and by are no means wealthy people, not even close, and we also did not start this with any Kickstart funds or growler clubs etc so our cost has been, like I said, a bit higher than usual. Cheers!

Trust us, a growler club is no magical source for a capital injection

We are going into year two with it and well I can only speak for ourselves but the intent was a "nicety" for folks who had faith in us early on. Or maybe we just gave too good of a deal haha...

COGS is a son of a bitch, even more so when you talk hops specifically. Get your contracts lined up asap...best advice I can give ya there.

    Cheers,
    Shane

You have very similar pricing to Beer'd and other smaller breweries and the quality is there so I don't mind the cost at all. If you did end up offering a growler club or something of the like I'd be all over it.

I'm a big fan of the mosaic and can't wait to come back and try the geek nip. I spread the word to a few friends too and I know at least 1 for sure is headed your way today.

I don't get the hesitation on price. A $7 bomber is basically a $21 growler. A $5 pint = $20 growler. If the quality is there, and it was in the 2 SH beers I've tried, I wouldnt think twice. The value of freshness only makes it an even better deal.

@Jsanchez1 @darkandhoppy thanks guys, my intent wasn't to be a jerk to @WeaponTheyFear I just wanted him to know why the prices were "high" and didn't want him to think I was someone trying to take advantage of the culture I love.

The pricing is right in line with everything else of similar. Maybe $2 off from NEBCO ipas (with SH better imo). Honestly, if I took the SH Mosaic and put it in a Tree House (or any other established quality NE brewery) growler, let you sample it, you clowns complaining about price would be all over the hassle and price to get it it.

Bottom line, the pricing is fair and quality is amazing. Really cant think of another brewery who has kicked so much ass right out of the gate than this one. That includes NEBCO. Remember, they have been open for only 3 months.

consider also that if you like the beer, you can get it cheaper later by supporting them now and allowing them to grow (and exist at all).

It's unfortunate that one comment turned this into a thread about their pricing. I stopped by for the first time on Friday and was more than happy to pay what they're charging for fills.

I bought some of everything they were offering and I'm very impressed. Daily Bread is an outstanding IPA that I look forward to having again. I'm not always huge on single-hopped Mosaic IPAs, but this one was good (I definitely like it more than Supernaut). I thought Boots was a unique and incredible drinkable DIPA.

I'm saving my Bunny for Easter but I really enjoyed the sample I tried. Bigger mouthfeel than most milk stouts and the flavors really stand out, unlike many other adjunct stouts.

Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed and I'd put these guys on the map as one of the best breweries in the state already. I can't wait to stop by again. I just wish that they were closer.

@SenatorSpaceman Dang dude, thanks so much! You know, the whole pricing thread thing is my fault. I didn't mean to start any trouble. It's something I think about alot and I just wanted to explain to weapon what our deal was. Again, thanks so much for taking that drive up to Haddam, it means alot!
