I'm coming to Steamboat on Saturday for about a week and am looking for beer-related recommendations.

From my research so far, it looks like The BARley is my best bet for a beer bar, Bistro CV for a great meal and good bottle list, and Ski Town Wine and Spirits for a bottle shop.

Storm Peak Brewing. Their taproom on west side of town. They are solid. I always pop into McKnights. They are good for happy hour and I always have a coupon for a free draft. Not a crazy beer list but I had Celebration there two weeks ago. Taphouse downtown has a decent beer list and good wings.

Carl's has $2 Colorado pints at happy hour. Butcherknife is another brewery up there. Please follow up on your experience, as I'll be heading up there on the 30th.

I was really impressed with Storm Peak Brewing when I went up there this summer, and they'd only been open maybe a couple of months.

Thanks for the responses. I'll definitely check some of these spots out.

Will do. I'll actually be there at the same time. Coming in this saturday and staying til the 2nd.

    Advice from a local:

Barley and Tap House for bars and Ski Haus Liquors for your bottle shop.

Thank you icculus for sending me to Ski Haus Liquors. I never checked out Ski Town Wine and Spirits, but I never needed to. Found lots of Trinity and Paradox beers. Picked up a bunch of Odell and other CO beers too. They also had some Abyss so I grabbed a couple of those too. It made for a great trip and (thanks to flying Southwest with their 2 free checked bags) an awesome haul that came back to NY with me.

The BARley was great. All CO taps (but 2) and all unique stuff I certainly wasn't going to get anywhere else. I'd also recommend getting a sandwich at Backcountry Delicatessen upstairs from the bar.

I never made it to Taphouse so I can't speak for that. I didn't go to Storm Peak either, but had a few of their beers around town all of which I was impressed with. The spruce saison was probably my favorite.

Dinner at Bistro CV was probably the highlight. The food was outstanding and the beer list was top notch. Definitely worth it IMO.

Sorry for not following up until now. Hope you're having a good trip. I had a great time out there, even with the daily ~ -20F weather.
