I love that this brewery is creating some delicious high quality beers at a fair price. Size 11 Triple IPA is delicious and at 10$ A bomber that's gotta be bitch to make! Thank you Steel Toe!

Pretty sure you won't get much disagreement here. They are definitely one of the best breweries in Minnesota.

They better make Sticker Fight again or we will have some issues.

Size 7 is my go to extra. At $5 (seen it at $4.50 a lot recently( a bomber it is a steal.

Though, Before the Dawn has to be my favorite beer of theirs.

I traded my last Cherry Rye BCS for batch 1 of Before the Dawn at Darkness Day and regret it deeply, but the most recent batch of Before the Dawn is among the very best barrel aged beers I've had, standing right alongside Central Waters 16, KBBS or the best of what Firestone Walker and Goose Island's done.

Even at 10 dollars a bomber, its still twice the price of Abrasive. It's a good beer, but bombers are always a bad value.

Steel Toe if you're reading this, I would buy so much more of you if you had a 6 pack format!!

I like size 7 as much as the next guy, but this is not a steal. Your talking a $15 six pack for an IPA. That's Sculpin pricing.

Put it in a 12oz or 16 oz can already!

Haven't bought Steel Toe in about three years due to the bombers. Like others said, if their beers were in sixers, I would be a customer. Hell, even four packs would do.

I guess I am directly comparing it to other bombers.

So everyone that wants steel to to go to 4 or 6 packs wants them to either
    A) Allow the same amount of access to their product by double/triple production (22 --> 48,64 oz)
    Or
    B) Keep same production essentially allowing 1/2 the amount of people to have access to their product?
(Current Oz Production /22 ---> Current Oz Production/48-64)

I love how the consumer never thinks about logistics or business strategy.
Seriously, if you don't want to support a local brewery because they charge a super reasonable price for bombers , more for the rest of us

P.S @jera1350 I hope you also refuse to buy any TG products

Nowhere in my post did I say I "refuse" to buy anything. Steel Toe can run their business however they see fit, I personally want 12 oz. servings for both pricing and 99% of the time I don't want to drink 22 oz. or more of a single beer at a time.

I've boughten exactly three bombers of TG ever though and Steel Toe does not brew anything as good as Pseudo Sue in my opinion. I rarely buy anything outside of 12 oz. these days. There are far too many solid options even locally now. I'll reference Fulton Insurrection as an example. Plenty of other local breweries to support that don't use bombers such as Summit, Indeed and Bauhaus.

See, and all this time I thought that the consumer's roll was to make decisions based on perceived quality and value, and the business owner's roll to think about logistics and strategy. Next time I'm choosing between the hundreds of beers at the shop, I'll consider each brewery's strategy, and decide how that should effect the value, before I choose. This could take a while

In all seriousness though, I like steel toe beers. I support them. I also like summit's beers, and indeed's beers, and surly's beers. I'm not sure why I should pay double (or more) for beer because they made a poor choice in bottling format. That isn't really MY problem. Steel Toe will have been open 4 years in August. We've all had all their beers at this point and the novelty is gone. If they want to stick to the bomber format, that's cool, but I wont be continue to buy them, and I'm not alone.

Alright guys. Challenge. If given the choice between large format (22oz, 750's) and small format (12/16oz), and the price per oz was the SAME in both formats, tell me a beer you would prefer to purchase in large format, and why.

I've been racking my brains, and the only thing I could think of was something snarky like... "Man, it sure would have been easier to drain pour that sixer of finnegans if I only had to open one can instead of six."

@jera1350 the TG comment was more of a joke. I understand some don't want to drink 22oz in a sitting.
The point of my original post @SNReject was that production/capacity wise may not be possible for them to bottle in a smaller format. It was simply to give insight on why they may use bombers rather than smaller formats (this is a discussion forum right?).

I would clearly love to have 4-6 packs of size 7. But I'm not going to hold that against a brewery

Now for instance. I refuse to by Lagui Sucks because a $10 6pk is now a $7 quart.

Were you disappointed in the BtD, or just that you gave away the BCS? The original Before the Dawn was better than the last batch, IMHO, but I still absolutely loved batch 2. I still have 2 of the original batch, and haven't had one in about a year - hoping your experience isn't telling me it's past it's prime (which I'd have a hard time believing).

I do wish Steel Toe would distribute on the St. Paul side of town. It sucks to not have easy access to their brews...

I agree! But given bombers are the only option available for many great beers then Size 11 is a great value for its style compared to other beers only provided in this format that have much higher price tags (Indeed Brewing bomber pricing comes to mind)

I was disappointed in B1 of BtD more than the loss of my last Cherry Rye when I had already had it several times. Loved batch 2, but at least on Darkness Day Eve, batch 1 wasn't nearly as fudgy/viscous of a beer. I was underwhelmed. May have felt differently in the context of a smaller tasting than DDay Eve, though.
