Well, I think I'll sit out this time -- with a style that is more miss than hit for me, I was looking forward to a sample before buying. So that's four more for somebody else :grinning:

EDIT -- of course, I say this and then kick myself when i stumble upon a taste and find it is incredible...

Yeah that is a bit of a shock to me, No tasters, and 20 a 750, I suppose it's kinda on point with style, and work put into it, but that's pricey.looks like a bottle or two for me

I don't see how this is inline with what others are charging. BA HiFi was $15, Gratitude $18 (not barrel aged, but its packaging equals or exceeds any costs incurred in barrel aging), KH, Arctic Devil, AbucuSucbA, etc... Even the ones that are priced quite high (BA Behemoth, BA Numbskull, etc...) all have reputations that carry a certain amount of cache, that Steel Toe has yet to achieve.

I'm a Steel Toe fan boy. The day I found out a brewery was opening in my back yard (at my old house I could see the brewery from my deck when there are no leaves on the trees), I drove past every day to check on progress. The day they opened I was right there at the front of the line, and have been for every milestone (the day Size 7 & Dissent went on sale, the day Rainmaker went on sale, Size 11 release). I'm also there at least every other week picking up growlers. There is no reason this should be $20 a bottle. Will I pay it, yep, and that is what Jason is counting on. But if this isn't a fantastic beer, will I be as willing next time around? Even if it is good, just not amazing, will people line up and drop $20 next time around? I have no doubt that it will sell out this time, but I think this price point is a bit of a miss calculation.
Look at what happened to Lift Bridge with Commander. It was going to be a brewery only release, $18 a bottle. I made the drive out there hoping to get some before it was gone, only to find out that not only was there some left, but there was so much left it was going out into distribution. Where it still sit on shelves. Its a really good beer, but they miss calculated demand. They adjusted their price point with Irish Coffee Stout and I'm guessing also the volume produced.
Again, I don't see Jason having any issues this time around, but if it's not MoAS PtII The Rye Edition, I see plenty of people questioning the pricing and second guessing picking up the next release.

I had planned on grabbing 4, now debating on 2 or 3. What was the price point on Size 11?

I believe it was $11, but don't quote me. And with only 700 bottles, I wish we could all say 'I'm only going to buy one bottle at that price,' and then 700 people+ could get to try it. With a limited local run, the more people who get to try it, in my opinion, the better. It'll be back.

But then I couldn't buy 4...2 for me and 2 for trading partners. Id like to taste it now, then start a little vertical with the second bottle Seems reasonable to me and will not feel guilty buying them.

Well of course $11 per bottle makes complete sense, and not a bad price for the style and limited release.

Don't feel guilty! Just share (it's obvious you are/will). Like I said, it's just a wish, and more of a comment on the culture and craze of buying limited beer. I'm not going to tell anyone how many of what they can and can't buy.

I'm also interested in acquiring any "extra" bottles that anyone will not be purchasing. I need to help another local BA out who cannot attend, as well as a few out of state folks, who's generosity I need to repay.
