After a 6 month hiatus from brewing I decided to try a 1 gallon partial mash zombie dust clone. Everything went very well and checked it this morning and it has a nice fermentation going on. At this point I remembered through the haze of the beers that were drank that I forgot to aerate the wort before pitching the yeast. I've attached a picture of the fermentation right now and just wondering what you pros on here think about the chances of a good outcome?
When you say you forgot to aerate it, what did you actually forget to do? Because if you poured the worth through a funnel to get it into the jug...you got "some" aeration.
Yeah, it got minimal aeration by using a siphon and siphon pump but not my usual few minutes of shaking before.
Well, siphoning would give you less than dumping, but I think you'll be fine. It's not ideal...but I wouldn't sweat it.
Looks like a healthy fermentation is occurring to me. As was posted above, I wouldn't sweat it. Cheers!
What kind of yeast did you use? When using some (all?) dry yeast, it's not necessary to aerate the wort. I know that to be true of Danstar yeasts, though I also get excellent results from Fermentis yeasts with no more than the incidental aeration one gets from deliberate sloshy racking to the fermenter.
