Had my first can tonight; no can date (missed it?), but it was outstanding. Can't wait to try the "right" version!

Were the cans at de Garde newer than 11/17? I didn't bother having any there since I had just bought cans and figured it was the same stuff.

I didn't look at the date on the can, but I assume they were the 11/17 batch. That's only four days prior to the party.

That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure how many canned batches there have been now. The 11/17 cans I've had from Belmont don't taste like the standard bottles or even the crowler I had back in September. Way more piney and bitter.

This is the time of year when brewers start busting into this year's hop harvest, so it's possible they're still adjusting to changes in flavor and IBUs from last year.

The hops in Sticky change from batch to batch. There have been piney releases, tropical releases, citrus versions, etc. I think I've only missed one bottle release in the past year or so, and there's definitely been big differences from batch to batch. I really didn't think this latest can was a major deviation from the natural swings in the hop profile before canning started. But that's my taste, and to be fair, I was drinking out of the can and not a proper glass.

Any update on the Dec 1 cans around town? Is it still the belgian IPA its been the previous 2 batches?

I didn't get much "Belgian-y" flavor in the 11/17 batch (Full disclosure: 11/17 it's the first batch I've had since it went to cans). It was definitely lighter-bodied and not nearly as dank as the "normal" versions have been in the past. I did detect a hint of bubble gum in the finish, but I don't think it detracted from the beer. I still think it's a top notch IPA.

Picked up the 12/1 batch, more piney. None of the Belgian flavors mentioned here.

Tastes phenomenal to me. Having a pint at 16 tons in Eugene.

This batch isn't Belgian, but I still have 3 cans of the ones that are in my fridge if anyone in PDX wants to try it. For science. Very piney though, agreed with drone

Cracked a can of the Dec 1 batch with a couple others, it went down the drain, for all of us. This batch it straight up bubble gum band aids, nothing close to the former glory I would happily drive to Corvallis to buy.

I'm going to contact Belmont to see about returning the remainder of my cans. As a huge fanboy of Block 15, quite sad to make a post like this.

Damn, hate to hear this. Apart from the 1st can batch, I've been disappointed in the quality since the canning started.

My Sticky Hands crowler from the brewery in September was awesome. The cans however, have been lacking. Hopefully they get it dialed in soon.

I was at BS around Noon. Picked up a 4-pack and some other goodies including Figgy Pudding. Will find out for myself later this evening how it is in cans.

I would agree, the latest cans taste off compared to the initial release

    Not drain pours though
