What is the longest you have gone PAST the "deadline" on a stone enjoy by ipa, and still thought it was delicious. (please no comments about how it drops off the next day immediately) cheers! Kevin.
Ya Davis, I just bought a half price 2/14 lol. From the SAME CASE that I bought 3 from like January 15th. I thought it would've sold out fast
Without all of the tongue-in-cheek rhetoric you will get (and have already received) from your question...I have this to say: DIPA's like Stone Ruination, Firestone Union/Double Jack and 60/90 minute (choosing beers that are more readily available)...90-110 days is the norm. However, I have found the initial aroma/flavor of Stone's 'Enjoy By IPA' series to transform (i.e. NOT go bad/stale) after their self-imposed window. I have, however, found that after the 'Enjoy By' date, the beer loses its tropical fruit flavors/aromas and increases with a piney/resin/catty aroma/flavor. If the latter is 'your thing,' then harbor no regret on opening an 'Enjoy By IPA' after its date. Otherwise, drink as fresh as possible to elicit all of those tropical fruit aromas/flavors. DIPA's that are canned (properly) can safely last an additional 30 days (i.e 4-5 months) without fading
They should rename this series to "Discount After" so retailers can get rid of their expired beer. Because they certainly aren't paying attention to that.
Very true. I don't think there are any old bottles on the shelves around me currently, but I know in the past at least a few places near me have had trouble unloading stock (it eventually disappeared, but whether they sold it or not, I have no idea). I've drank quite a few bottles on the actual "Enjoy By" date just for the gimmick of doing so. They were all still pretty tasty, so no complaints. I've drank at least one within a few weeks after "Enjoy By" date, and again, I don't remember it being terrible.
I had last year's 4/20 a bit over a month after the Enjoy By date, a shop owner found it in the back of the store so he split it with the customers. Lost a bit of citrus brightness, was still delicious.
I drank one of the December ones close to the turn of the year...so maybe at least a day or two late. I can assure you it tasted the same, I didn't grow a third eye, etc.
ive drank one a few weeks close to a month after the date. Didnt taste Too much different. Maybe a little more malt shines through. Also was kept cold the whole time so i dont know. Either way, Ipas and Dipas should be drank asap. Finding one for a sale price a month over its date is worth it if its cheap.
