I had the 12th a couple of months ago, and it is exceptional! Especially with the age on it. If you can snag a bottle from someone's cellar, I would highly recommend it.

I've never had a beer since that was such a glorious showcase of what German hops are like. Actually, I cannot think of any other beer that uses German hops in that way. I'm really hoping for an evenutal re-release

Or maybe a British Mild. Yeah, that's it.

The Pale Ale 2.0 uses Mandarina Bavaria, which is a newer German hop. One I quite like. Mandarin orange aroma and flavor, with a little bit of grassiness behind it. A local brewery did a SMaSH with it. Was like someone took a decent IPA and put a can of the oranges into it without the syrup.

I'm such an old man these days, but wish the ABV was lower, especially if the goal was to show off the hops. At 9%, beers get sweet and the hops tend to get lost, call it the Southern Tier effect. I'll definitely check it out though and hope that it's tasty. Putting the over/under at $10.50/12 oz pours around Boston.

Tend to enjoy Stone's stuff, but I find myself more and more falling into the camp of preferring my DIPAs to not tilt much higher than 8-9%. As you said, they just get too sweet and boozy otherwise. Interested to see how this one turns out though.

Hopefully I'll be able to find a few of these to take with me to see AC/DC at Wrigley field in Sept. Should make for a good pregame session before having limited and extremely overpriced options inside the concert.

$10 9% bombers outside the stadium, $10 16oz Bud lights in the stadium, woof.

yep, I agree. I didn't buy RuinTen because I've realized that I just don't enjoy 10% IPAs. For me 7-8% is the sweet spot, 9% is starting to get risky but there are still a few that I love, and double digits is my cutoff.

I have had a beer done with Vic Secret, very nice in a resinous way.

It was originally called Victoria Secret as Victoria AU is where it is grown. You might guess who called up requesting a change of name. That is the story an Australian friend told.

Agreed, I consider it a much greater skill to brew a well rounded IPA at 7% or less than to jam as much hops and malt into a beer as you can to make it extreme.

Sadly I recognize this a little better -

    B - 0-4-0-7-0-4-0-7-0-4-0-7-0-4-7-0-4-0-7-4-0-7..............

    b - 0-5-0-8-0-5-0-8-0-5-0-8-0-5-0-8-0-5-0-8-0-5............

I think tabbing out the chords would be a little over the top, but you get the drift, right?
