While not a common poster to BA, I have been enjoying craft beer for several years and I think I have a fairly good knowledge of beer styles and flavors. However, I admit to knowing very little about the science and/or art of the brewing process. I am wondering if anyone has gone to any of the Stone Brewing 'Beer U' events. From what I can see, the beers offered are nothing spectacular (at least for the upcoming double IPA event, while PtE is always great, nothing is on there that I haven't had except for the Ruinten aged in bourbon barrels).

    I have two questions:

    (1) If anyone has attended one of these, would it be informative in any way for someone who already knows a good amount about styles and flavors through tasting and thinking about what they are tasting?

    (2) [This may be more important from me] Do they ever have beers that are rarer or harder to get that they pour at the event without advertising them in advance?

    Thanks!

They've been live-streaming them online – you can find previous ones here.

Wow. Never knew this. Heard about Stone's Beer U. But never knew they streaming it live. Good to know. Thanks SageO.

Thanks a lot. Now I know I don't need to pay for it.

While the content may be simplistic and somewhat repetitive, I've found the events to be quite entertaining and the beers very enjoyable. They've squeezed in some awesome beers into the ones I've attended (BCBS and PTY), so you never know what surprises they may have in store. Pay attention to if the timing of the event coincides with a special beer release.
