I heard this batch was infected, not fucking around here. Can anyone who has tried it chime in?

Stone themselves are offering refunds, so I would say it's not really a joke.

has anyone that is not trading a bottle had a non-infected bottle? is this like BA Yeti where there might be luck of the draw or are all bottle holders bummed?

could be they just took customer at their word and refunded due to dissatisfaction. don't think they really care how "tacit admission" affects the trade value.

haha, obviously trade value isn't their concern, but it's the "taking someone at their word" part that i don't fully understand. i imagine they have the resources to perform testing, and it seems like suspicious timing to reach a confident result so soon after release. which, to my cynical brain, implies they knew the results before release, released it anyway to see if they could get away with it.

or, it's possible they actually care about what they put out, but i feel that the belgo-anise irs is a strong counterpoint to that.

yeah. i don't want to speculate too much because the post in question wasn't exactly loaded with details, but i'm not too cynical about stuff like this.

i think most businesses, even hand-holdy craft brewers, have a good chance of lying, cheating, and bending over backwards to screw you if there's big stakes. to recoup your losses on a beer whose total profit won't net you anything close to a week's production of stone pale ale... eh.

it is a really quick response though. my speculation remains "oh you weren't satisfied? here's your money back. keep buying stone!" but who knows.

I just called Stone and they acknowledged that the barrels were infected wih a wild yeast strain. I was also told they are doing some quality tests and will make an official statement this week. They are offering refunds...

This should be sent out to every trade thread and every trade about to go down. What a ridiculous way to treat your customers if they knew beforehand. Even if some employees found out from the held back bottles, send out a notice as quickly as possible. Don't wait for refunds under the impression BA IRS will turn into the Abyssident.

Wild. I nearly traded my last King Henry for a bottle. Very glad that I waited a couple of days to pull the trigger.

They did say more research is being done before official word is released, but all sales of have been halted. I did see a post ofa guy who said his was fine....

The employee said he heard the taste was bourbon up front, then the IRS, finished with sour cherry. I was Really wanted to try what this beer is intended to be. I still may risk it and go through with the trade.

Has anyone had an infected one?

After deciding I would take my bottle back on lunch break Tuesday for a full refund, I decided to open mine and see what all the fuss was about: infected drainpour. Terrible.

I called off mine. I couldn't in good faith send this bottle out. Now that I've tasted how dreadful it is, I'm glad I didn't.

The one I had last night tasted fine, while the one I had today tasted awful. After painstaking research, I have concluded I may have been too drunk to accurately judge it last night. It's not over the top sour, it's just an unpleasant aftertaste
