This sucks so fking bad, there is no way that they did not taste this beer before they release it.
The oldest marketing trick is "if you aren't 100% satisfied then return it for a full refund" but most don't bother to return crap because it is too much of a pain in the ass..they knew it was bad and released it anyway, bad form, I'm so disappointed because I am a total Stone backer and I have 2 bottles coming to chicago, wtf am I supposed to do with this swill? mail it back at for 30 bucks and maybe get my 40 back...pissed

You really think Stone would scroodle with their reputation on a 1,000 bottle release? They probably make as much money on a weekly shipment of ruination to Pismo Beach.

But make no mistake, they have stepped into a large, steaming pile here. Even though Quingenti Millitre is a different program from their regular releases, their handling of the BA IRS release was so sloppy, the fallout can't help but spill over onto their overall reputation as a craft brewer.

I wish them luck with the damage control portion of this saga.

totally feel you, also a stone backer & driving 2hrs one way was a pain in my head, i could only imagine what you were thinking about shipping. the stone employee that i spoke with yesterday said that bottles need not be returned to the brewery. pop the ones that have soon, taste, if any of them are infected contact Quality Control via email & they should be able to take care of you. i know that currently there's a no questions asked return policy. i'd try mine now unfortunately i'm on antibiotics & have to wait a week or two before the taste test. good luck to you!

i like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know of the incident until customers came through. this is a crap storm no doubt. imagining them doing something similar to the central waters peruvian morning incident. maybe a discount for a vertical epic tasting later this year? that would def put out thoughts of infected QM BBA IRS. sigh, one can dream...

How about this: I'm in Chicago and really wanna try it. Bring both bottles to a tasting and well open some cool stuff too. Of they're infected you can get your money back and you still get to try good other beer too. I really wanna lotto ticket try this

So do you guys think that a refund for a tourist who bought a few bottles and are already back home is implausible? Should I try trading it off to the folks who are interested in an infected bottle?

I read that if you contact stone quality control they may refund you without having to come in or mail anything to them. Probably not for people who paid with cash.

It's been a really high rate of infection, as far as I can tell, bordering on 100%.

Nice. I didn't think anyone would read those comments. We had a tasting that night hosted by Lymph and his wonderful wife. We all thought it would be fun to experience what the fuss was about. At least it wasn't as bad as Alpine's BA Token, but still bad none the less. Glad to hear that Stone had stepped up to take care of the problem though. In regards to the high school checkin's on untappd, the place is right down the street, so Oak Grove High School became the designated checkin location. We had something like 79 checkin's there that night. Let's hope nobody from the school district is on untappd, otherwise that school has a lot of explaining to do. Good times.
