not brewing on site until April but Soft Opening of their tasting room / store this weekend. Until 9pm tonight. 11am-10pm Sat. Feb 19 & 20
Just amazing how an facility that size can be up and running that quickly. Nice to have Stone in the neighborhood.
Official Opening Mar 2nd. Normal hours once open in the linked article. Brewing in the next month or so with first Stone RVA brew May/June. http://www.richmond.com/food-drink/article_c3196052-971b-5e00-8ba8-b21d09347383.html
Good Lord! Stone is going to beat Green Flash in opening the fastest! I haven't seen the site, but they must have thrown it up with the quickness!
I stopped by there yesterday. Huge lines and they were only pouring run of the mill stone beers, nothing to exciting. They had some bottles and merchandise for sale as well. I didn't see anything about next weekend.
Green Flash announced last month they will open Memorial Day weekend. Stone's official opening is Mar. 2nd and there's really just the store/tasting room side. Anyone who visits Stone expecting a polished diamond is crazy. This weekend and next is simply a soft opening as they stated just to give locals a small taste of what to expect. To give the staff some first hand training with the crowds that will show up. Still a lot of construction will be going on. They won't be brewing beer on site for another 1-2 months and not serving that until late Apr/May most likely.
Green Flash is pretty much doing the same thing here . The tasting room/store opens in late May and the brewery won't be done until the end of summer . I can't blame them for going after the tourist dollars , they're only 10 minutes from the oceanfront .
Well I will be passing through on my way to Dogfish this weekend. Probably wont stop to see the brewery until its all set up, open and brewing on location though.
Here's some perspective on just how large Stone RVA will be. Keep in mind this is just brewery and distribution. Stone World Bistro & Gardens will be coming up in a year or two a short distance away on the waterfront. http://www.cheersva.org/2016/02/24/...pen-the-retail-end-of-its-brewery-this-month/
I popped in yesterday on my way home from DC. Was incredibly busy and it looked like they only had one person pouring. The facility is nice, lots of seating inside and out. I ended up leaving because I couldnt wait an hour in line for a beer but I will return when it dies down and hopefully catch a tour.
