Below is the label for a new variant in Stone's "Bastard" family of ales. This is Depth-Charged Double Bastard Ale, which is Double Bastard brewed with espresso beans. This will come packaged in 22oz bombers and will clock in at 11.2%abv. It will also be available on draft. No word on when this will be hitting the streets as of now, so will update with more info as it become available.

They don't distribute in my market, and I've never been more sad about it.

I think I actually had this at the brewery yesterday but they weren't marketing it the same. It was just a strong ale brewed with expresso beans coming in at the identical ABV. Enjoyed it. Nothing mind blowing but the expresso is real nice smelling.

Idk if Stone was hinting at Dayman per their Instagram yesterday or not. But they said, "
Just checked in on our #beer buds at @alemanchicago (anybody remember that lil' known Aleman/Two Brothers/Stone #DayMan Coffee #IPA?). Years of planning will soon equate to some truly fine #craftbeer. In the meantime, we're helping to tide the guys over with...what's that...Stone 19th Anniversary"

Anyone else feel like the bastard series is becoming less of a beer and more of a dare?

I was kind of thinking the same thing! I read about and got all excited and then had this as a second thought. Hoping Stone doesn't turn into Rogue and just keep brewing weird shit "because they can".

Then again if I see this on the shelf, I'm gonna pick one up.:grinning:

Really hoping my store gets a case of this.
I'd definitely be interested in trying this.

Hmmm... I am definietely intrigued. I really can't imagine what adding espresso to the already chaotic storm of flavor Double Bastard has will be like. But hey, I love DB, and appreciate some espresso. I'm glad they try new things like this. I assume the standard DB will also be released? I'm hoping.

The only difference I see is Stone clearly labels the "weird ones" and also makes "standard variants" and makes good "normal stuff" too. They're not ALL IN on weird stuff, all the time. That's in regard to all their brews. This one I'd call a "standard variant" of one of their best brews, and I imagine will be quite good.

Yeah, I know. It was just a thought.
I would have to say Rogue labels pretty well show you it's going to be a weird beer.
