I don't think they're not going to the same states (Sans Calif). Hence, no screwing.

The manager of my store here in MA, let the distributor take back our 4-20 yesterday. Stupid, as it sounds like we won't be getting the next batch, and we still had 10 days to sell some before it turns into a pumpkin beer at 12:00am on 4-21... get it?

Just another illustration of how brilliant the marketing is. By creating the impression that it is a new beer every time, they can slack on the quality/consistency control (and vice versa). Genius!

If it weren't for the fact that I really enjoy this beer, I'd not be terribly concerned, personally. And that the Stone marketing machine lets me know when it is coming to my area without too much effort makes it easier for me to look for and find before it disappears. I suspect my experience in the Midwest might be a bit different than yours in California. You probably get virtually every release, so I don't imagine it matters too much when they announce the next release, since one will almost always be on the shelves.

That it is not always available and is more expensive than some other IPA options means it isn't my go-to IPA, but I welcome its release whenever it comes. It is a good enough beer that I'm sure to pick it up again once Indiana (or Ohio) is again on the distribution list.

How? Their own website lists it as still in the "Bottling" stage. Maybe it's out at the brewery already? Anyway, glad to hear after the mild disappointment for me that was 4.20.14.

I will have to agree that each release has tasted different. Last year I had a guy at a fest give me a full bottle of something I had never hear of in exchange for the last few (and probably warm) sips of my bottle of 5/17/13. I thought he was nuts, but that release was rather tasty. I missed out on the 2/14/14, which from what I gather, I didn't miss much. Strangely I am currently enjoying a 4/20/14...while it is good, I thought that the 12/13/13 was better.

There will never be a time in my life where I will ever walk past Hop JuJu. It deserves every shred of hype it gets.

imo the bars should put it on tap as soon as they get it and not wait till the last minute!!

Truthfully I found 4/20 to be more 'packed' with that luscious hop flavor than what 2/14 was. Now, they both were great, flavorful beers, but I enjoyed 4/20 more. No chance I'll see 5/16.

Same here. I was hoping the craze had calmed a bit by now, just for notgettingfrustratedwithaggressivebeernerds' sake.

This one seems super-limited, even for states with distro (2-bottle limit at my usual place, which has been unlimited for previous releases). Definitely like this better than 4.20—more like 2.14 for me. Still not worthy of all the hype, but tasty beer worth grabbing if you see it.

I totally agree with this statement exactly. 12/13 tasted different than 4/20...not only different, but better imo. I have my last bomber of 4/20 (bought 4) here that I'm just not really looking forward to.

I realize that it is a matter of preference but I don't understand most of the hate on this beer. Granted the date thing is a gimmick and Stone is easy to get but this beer at 9.4 percent is unlike anything else on the market. At least in San Diego you can buy this beer for less than 30 cents an ounce. For that price at that percentage of alcohol with a great taste, the hate seems misguided. It's not the greatest beer ever and not the most incredible thing on earth but bottom line it is at the very least a good beer at a reasonable price. Just because a burrito at taco shop A is slightly worse than a Burrito at taco shop B dosent make the burrito at taco shop A shitty.

I just re-read this thread...not picking up the hate on this beer. Maybe hating Stones gimmick, and a possible taste differential, but no hate.

Thats not whats happening according to the bar owners Ive talked to. It is taking so long to get out to NY and to the bars that they find themselves with 7-10 days to move the barrel. Now, that's not an issue with my go to. They will turn a 1/2 bbl in a week. But a lot of other places wont take the beer that late because they wont be able to move it fast enough, and even though the beer would be fine after the date, no one wants it on their lines post-enjoy by date. This last round it got out much earlier. Hopefully that keeps up.
