There's really only one way to figure this out: An Enjoy By vertical.

I think I lost the taste for this beer after someone told me it was oniony. I never noticed and then that is all I could taste. This was while drinking the same bottle so it wasn't even a "this one isn't the same" thing. Anyhow, decent beer than isn't worth the price gouge most places are doing when it shows up.

    Hi all.

Just letting you know that one poster in this thread asked for his posts (as well as those which quoted him) to be removed/edited to remove references to him.

So if you notice some missing/altered posts, that's the reason why.

Has anyone tried this AND the 4/20 and can offer comparisons?

I thought the 4/20 was super dank and earthy...not at all one of my favs...hoping this 5/16 is back to the "roots" of the enjoy by with more tropical notes...anyone comment?

I've had both. I agree with your assessment of 4.20.14, and I also wasn't a huge fan. This one is definitely a big improvement in my view, and back to more like 2.14.14 (which was the first one I tried)—really fantastic.

Thats what I was telling my friend that I split a bomber with last night. He loved it, I prefer 4.20 more.

Enjoy By 4/20/14 was the best bottle of Stone beer I ever had. That is all.

I really wish they would put this stuff in 12oz bottles/4 or 6 packs and just send it to the different regions and rotate it (like they do) but just make it a rotation folks can depend on. I am good with seeing it two or three times a year--keeps it special. One of my favorites.

Finished my last 4/20 tonight. Still DAMN good. Now polishing off a Dirt Wolf as a chaser. Life is good.

Anyone know if all the Enjoy batches have been the same recipe? I've had four different batches now and although it may be the age of the individual beer (or my sobriety), i can't help but think some have been better than others.

Enjoy By is always great. I was able to get four of the 5/16s. I am in SC and it seems to be in shorter supply than recent versions. I feel each version has been fairly consistent - I taste little or no variation. This is definitely a top 10 beer for me.

I believe they purport to be the same recipe from batch to batch (though I got the impression they may have tweaked 4.20.14 a bit for maximum dankness). Enjoying a 5.16.14 right now—boy oh boy is it good!

I mainly ask because I never got to try 4/20/14 and everyone seemed to really like it and it got quite a bit of buzz for awhile. For those of you that have tried 5/16/14 how close is it to 4/20. Just curious cuz it is avaiable to me now and I don't wanna miss it this time if its worth it.

I had both fresh direct from Stone out of the growler and out of the bottle. 4.20 was the best Enjoy By made thus far... in my opinion. 5.16 is good, but not as good at 4.20. There are subtle differences I cannot describe. 5.16 kind of stepped back down to the Enjoy By mean. 4.20 took Enjoy By dankness to another level. A great beer! One of the best I've had.

Pretty much the same recipe, other than slight batch variation. Enjoy By XX-XX-XXXX is pretty much the same as YY-YY-YYYY.

I'll just offer the counter view—for my palate, 5.16 (and 2.14) beat 4.20. I find 5.16 spectacular; 4.20 was good, but I wasn't obsessed the way I am with 5.16. That said, lots of people share roncruiser's view that 4.20 was dope :grinning:

So they vary the recipe on this? Didn't know that.
