Never really noticed this until this most recent batch (4/20) but there is a ton of Enjoy by still sitting on shelves around me. I'm in pretty far north california in an area with sub-excellent beer distribution and enjoy by has always moved through pretty quick. It's not my favorite by any means but I usually grab a pint of it if I see it on tap. However, for the first time, I am seeing a ton of it still sitting around on shelves a full 10 days after it's label date. One store even turned all their bottles around so that the "brewed to be enjoyed dank" back label is what faces customers, not the label with the date from a week ago. Are other folks seeing this or did they just send too many to us this batch?

Well, stores won't be able to leave these on the shelf for months and hope nobody notes they're past date...

I occasionally see an old enjoy by in a singles selection or a sixer that's a week past due, but not too many dusties around here compared to other brands.

I think they normally sell well mainly because you know they're fresh, or maybe store owners take them off the shelf when they get past the very obvious due date. I did see a bomber from 2015 or something last week, got a laugh out of that.

They may have made extra in this batch due to the "holiday" (4-20 smoking holiday) but I can't confirm that at all.

I wish they would release Enjoy By Unfiltered every time

I usually buy a sixer of this but missed this last batch because I just had bought a bunch local IPAs and missed the window on this beer. So I am partially to blame. I'll go back for the unfiltered around June.

The last few batches of Enjoy By have been shelf turds at my favorite store. They seem to take it off the shelf 2 weeks past its enjoy by date I don't know if Stone buys it back or they throw it away or what. They should probably start ordering less.

If you care enough, contact Stone and they will dispose the beer.

I have noticed a lot more of it sitting around. A year or so back I was at a store and saw Enjoy By like 6 months past the GIANT date on the bottle. I contacted Stone and gave them the store info, I have not see Enjoy By at that store again LOL. Guess Stone was not too thrilled.

If I wasn't such a ticker, I would still buy a 4/20 Enjoy By on May 1.... thats only +11 days. Stone gives these guys a what... 35 day shelf like? That's a 1.5 month old IPA/DIPA. You can do WAY worse.

It really doesn't sit very long on the shelves around here. Most of it is gone by two weeks once it hits the shelves. Interestingly enough, someone had turned most of the bombers around to the backside as Stevepat mentioned in the opening post. It's a good beer, and I almost always pick up a six, but I may go to getting only a bomber for the next release. The base flavor doesn't sway as much as I would like it to get excited about it.

I'm cheap so I'd ask the owner for a discount. But I agree 11 days past the Enjoy By date wouldn't ruin the beer for me although I wouldn't be happy paying full price for it. This is assuming I wanted to buy the beer in the first place but there are lots of other beers I would pick up before Enjoy By.

Agreed. But if you live by the sword...you may die by the sword.

The Enjoy By Series is (was) a wonderful marketing campaign designed to capitalize on the beer geek desire for freshness within the IPA’s they purchased.

The guild may be off the lily...ymmv.

Sure, they say that they do this. But does it actually happen? I've yet to see it occur.
I even asked my Stone Distributor today if he's ever had it happen (he hasn't). I texted my Stone rep if he's ever actually be summoned to do one of these, I anxiously await his reply to "come at you bro", but like most Stone things I take that as a gimmick.

The beer is still GREAT. Just not what is in vogue currently, which is a shame. I still look forward to this, as well as a greatly produced bitter/citrus-forward "classic" double IPA, which seem to be harder and harder to find nowadays. Considering the number of poorly done "haze bombs" taking over the market, this one is officially back on the regular radar.

I've noticed it sitting on the shelves as well - it used to be really hard to come by but I kind of blame it on the distributor in my area. Sometimes the Enjoy By series wont show up on the shelves until months after the release date  but it's still placed on the shelves like it's not a problem.

Isn't he the one who's supposed to pull the out of stock beer to begin with?
