Chemistry, like climate change, can be a challenge to understand for some people...

Hope this doesn't mean that I wont be able to get the bottled version. I prefer bottles- there, I said it.

I'll second this. I find that high-octane IPAs such as Enjoy By, Hopslam, RuinTen, and every Port Brewing Anniversary IPA are fairly sweet in comparison to "single" IPAs. I always get way more of that bitter "bite" from IPAs with a lower malt profile. That's one of the things that I LOVE about huge IPAs -- the greater contrast of sweet and bitter.

9.4% is tough to down a few in the afternoon. Would love to see an under 7% variation.

While it is true that more sugar is needed to attain higher alcohol content, that does not necessarily translate into more sweetness in flavor. Depending on how well-attenuated the beer is, you could very easily have a drier beer at 10% than at 5%. Additionally, as you mentioned yourself, the balance of ingredients also plays a huge roll in how sweet the finished product will be. It is actually incorrect to say that increasing alcohol content is equivalent to adding/creating sweetness, unless you want to just completely forget about this thing in beer called yeast, which actually consumes the extra sugar to create the extra alcohol. How's that for patronizing?

I actually prefer Ripper because I can justify more than one. Bitter enough for me

see this has hit stores around Colorado- but one problem- almost $19 for a six pack? I'll pass despite the quality of this beer. There are just too many cheaper, similar options out there.....

That's not bad at all, in fact that's a good price. What are some of these many cheaper similar options? That price in bomber format would be under 6 bucks a bomber. Killer price.

They sell the 22oz Bomber here in Cali for $8.99. Either way I prefer the Sixer to enjoy throughout the week
