There are much better fits for a brewery expansion, mainly due to taxes and things of that nature. If Columbus wants this, they are going to have to give a lot of tax abatements and incentives; there is a reason Stone isn't expanding exclusively in California.

I guess Greg Koch ate dinner at the Crest while he was in town scoping things out.

This is definitely true. However, tax breaks are nearly always offered to companies (in all industries) simply to get the company to consider opening a new plant, or office, in a given location. The economic benefit that the state or locale sees due to the expansion often outweighs the tax breaks given, making the tax breaks a good investment.

This is also a good fit logistically (evidenced by AB's brewery on the north-side), and culturally (as we continue to see more and more breweries, stores and beer-centric bars open).

That being said, I also have my doubts about it happening, but can still be hopeful...

Columbus has a booming beer scene, so I can't see this being a bad move if Stone decided to bring a brewery there. That being said, I'm also just hopeful it happens since I live nearby .

The last thing I want is to see Enjoy By being too easy to obtain. Right, @Norseman?

I wish Enjoy By was so limited that I'd never see it again...the thought of finding it in a grocery store makes me physically ill.

edit: I've also been contemplating this for a year

A moment of silence for the "Is Stone Enjoy By Too Easy to Find?" thread. RIP.

Stone is one of my favorite breweries outside Ohio, so I would love it to happen.

Problem I have with Enjoy By is they have raised the price more than once, and now I pass it up and buy other stuff.

South Carolina is pushing pretty hard to entice Stone right now. Akron was also rumored to be a potential location.

So now it's down to Columbus, Richmond,& Norfolk. Wouldn't it be great if they name Columbus the winner after the Bucks beat Virginia Tech on Sept 6. Just wishful thinking.

Hate to break it to you bud, but Ohio will be lucky to beat any team, now that your golden child is out for the year!!

Keep dreaming, they will still stomp on Fred Flintstone's boys in November. MSU may be another story, but they would have had trouble with them with Braxton.
