I suspect that's because, for the most part the overt political commentary (read as: partisan commentary) has stayed on the fringes of this thread, with only little nods here and there.

However, the longer it goes, the more likely it devolves into a delete-worthy thread.

Another Stone bomber I can skip out on. After all, the 22oz bombers are priced generally in the $24-27 / 6-pack range.

    No doubt about that.

God knows that anyone who falls in the PC-camp, can't handle opinions that dont agree with theirs (how diverse ).

And we wouldnt want anyone to be offended, would we?!?

Has nothing to do with PC, etc., etc.

The site was created by it's owners for discussion of beer among it's members. When things get off the topic (whether polical or not) they are often deleted or closed down (says someone who has had more than one post deleted in more than one thread for being off topic). E.g., Try starting a discussion of Mead and you'll see a relatively quick and direct effect.

So it's ok to set aside the politics, relax and have a beer. :sunglasses:

    Very possibly so.

But - its important for any discussion forum (talking about beer or anything else) to recognize that right now - "politics" (as it exists in America) - transcends nearly every topic within social discourse - the Left hates it; the Right accepts it. And, a small business brewing a beer that is otherwise called "Impeach" simply proves the point.

Stone Brewing (one of the nation's largest independent craft brewers) is releasing a beer that - love/hate our current administration - seems to be making a direct statement about their position regarding whats going on within the political arena.

So - yes - we should all relax (":sunglasses:"). But when an online discussion panel wants to delete content for being "too political" it seems to me that only one side is capable of relaxing, while the other is busy regulating content and ensuring no one gets their feelings hurt.

Well these are issues well above my pay grade on this site. (In a different forum I might choose to agree or disagree with one or more of your points or the way you frame the issues.)

However, just as the owners of a newspaper or magazine set its editorial policies and choose what to publish or not publish the owners of this site have set their editorial policies. If I disagree with those policies I'm free to not publish an article, essay or letter in the newspaper and magazine or to not participate in the web site.

I choose to be here for what I can learn about beer or what I may be able to share based on my expertise in relevant areas of my professional competence (none of which include beer which is why I sometimes have posts deleted for being off topic :sunglasses:).

Ruination 2.0 was a chore in and of itself. What they did to that beer was an embarrassment. It used to be Stone IPA on crack. Then they dialed it back to be more inline with current trends.

i'm all for separation of politics/religion from family events and commercial products, just makes things easier.

BUT there are times when "politics" and "politicians" are an absolute joke that go far beyond left/right rhetoric. when the presidency is a complete dumpster fire you might as well laugh at it. then again i'm solidly libertarian so i laugh at the follies of both parties

Speaking of getting us closer to deletion the longer the thread goes.

Not to mention the irony of complaining about the opinions of others by preemptively talking about how those people can't handle divergent opinions.

Guess all the people who are in their feelings about a brewery's marketing slogan are the "PC crowd", huh?

Considering during a briefing that the Cheeto in Chief’s administration forbid the CDC from using certain terminology including “evidence based” and “science based”, and he wants to censor media outlets, it should be disappear soon. Of course, thanks to the net neutrality issue, we might not be anle to access it anyway...

As is tradition. Not saying all the BA folks are this bad but some of these folks get upset at "Happy Holidays", Starbucks taking a snowman off their cups, and diversity in the Star Wars cast.

No. No they should not. Honestly this is very disappointing. I might not buy Stone products now actually.

Are you really surprised that someone with a Brietbart avatar, who without provocation starts complaining about "free speech" in a thread about an anti-Trump named beer has resorted to childish antics? Just ignore him.

I told my dad about this and he said he'll never give Stone another penny. And I believe him. He's a big Stone fan so he was pretty upset to hear this. I'm not quite as hardline as my dad (who is?) but it does upset me, just a little. I have 2 bottles of Stone left in my cellar that I'll have to dispose of shortly.

It's not a big deal, there are plenty of other companies to send my money to.

I think a healthy conversation is good so long as people keep it civil. It has been interesting reading posts and views. I think Stone accomplished what they wanted because look at the chatter on this over a name, they did their marketing homework.
My only advice to Stone is instead of making moves like this how about making a beer to honor our troops, police, fire, etc. That is something we all could be in support of, we have enough divide going on maybe companies like Stone should focus on bringing folks together...Just my 2 cents.....

So Stone makes a troll-y beer name and some people swear off Stone products forever? Like someone said, this is the type of thing Stone does.
