I know that Ruination is technically a Double IPA. (So please resist the temptation to tell me that I am asking a comparison between two beers that represent two different beer styles. I already know that. It could be argued that the difference between an American IPA and an American Double is not all that large anyway.) But beyond that, I was wondering which of the two most readers thought was the better one overall (for flavor, mouthfeel, drinkability, etc.). Grateful for the feedback.

Which has more of a piney flavor?

Ruination has more of a piney flavor but also more bitterness as well. I think I prefer it too, but actually when I buy one, I usually buy the other too.

    Ruination.

I don't see the all the fuss about Stone IPA.. But maybe living 2 minutes from the brewery has spoiled me a bit.

I prefer the IPA, based on my purchasing habits. I do like the Ruination, I just don't buy it as much.

I like Stone IPA better, but I have not tried the revamped Ruination yet.

Stone IPA for me. One of my all time favorite IPAs.

I can drink a ton of Stone IPA and never get sick of it. It's a standard. Ruination, limit myself to 1 or 2 or else I find my tastebuds becoming annoyed. Maybe I'm just a pansy, but I've drank beers with similar IBU levels and Ruination just seems to not agree with me on multiple bottles.

If we factor in the price for this comparison, then in my opinion Stone IPA edges it.

Really depends on the situation. If I'm going to drink 4-6 watching football then definitely IPA. If I want 1 or 2 with dinner then I'd prefer Ruination.

Ruination has it all over Stone IPA. Truth.

i love both, but it depends on how much i plan to drink. If i'm getting ruination I usually only get 1 bomber, maybe 2. But i will get an entire case of the stone ipa. Just easier on the palate.

Ruination. But I had the Stone IPA Double Dry Hopped in LA once and it was excellent, better than regular Stone IPA.

Both were some of my first (dozen :stuck_out_tongue:) IPAs, and IMO top-notch, but I'd probably pick Ruination if offered. I've drank a decent amount more IPA than Ruination due to cost, though.
