I have a lot of love for Stone and the normally great stuff they put out but for God sakes, this is worst beer I have had from them and the worst beer I have had this year. Tastes like coconut, rubbing alcohol and spoiled grapes. Such a strange mix of off flavors. Anyone else tried this? Thoughts?
I thought it was pretty easy to drink. The IPA side was a very mellow and I got a lot of raisin and grape taste from the Belgian side. It was not a favorite but worth the try. Ah coconut that's on the of the flavors I couldn't figure out. Overall - I wouldn't get it again. it was moderately enjoyable.
I don't know man. I got a growler and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very different and pretty light on the IPA side of things (low bitterness, not a ton of hop character), but I liked it. I got a ton of fruit esters from the yeast strain and really liked the dryness the red and white wine barrels imparted on the beer. I thought it was decently complex and pretty easy to drink too. Who knows why, but it just seemed to hit the spot for me (not that it was a mindblowing beer either).
You mentioned coconut and for a second I thought you were talking about the R&R Coconut IPA they're releasing soon.
