Thought it was crazy there wasn't a thread on this as its coming up on Sunday. Never have been. What should I be looking forward too/anyone else going?
I'll be there! I really enjoy hanging out in the Gardens, and the whole setup. Plus the ridiculous tap list doesn't hurt. Word to the wise, like a lot of fests they let people in right when it starts and the line can get pretty long. Showing up 30 min early will get you in right at the beginning and will make the first 30 min of the fest much less crowded (plus you can grab anything you are worried about running out. Which the big ticket beers will). Also, in case you are Type A like me and make a list of what you want to try they usually add like 30 beers to the list the day of so the extra time can help you figure out a new plan based on any additions. That being said they usually only release about 80-90 beers and add 30 or so the day of. This year there are like 120 on the initial list so I don't know if they will add more or not. Sometimes a beer on the online list doesn't show up but that doesn't happen too often from what I can remember. I'm bummed they shortened it by an hour but I guess they were having problems with people finishing their 15 tasters early and then buying pints and getting belligerent. Oh well, still plenty of time. Cheers!
Thanks man! There def is a ton of diff beers I wanna try so I may have a small list going haha. Thanks for all the great info.
they don't allow kids at fests there do they? love Stone. love the Stone garden. don't love people bringing kids to Stone
Kids are allowed once the restaurant is officially open for the day. Festivals that start prior, obviously no kids will be allowed.
The event was sick. The beers were solid. The drunk people throwing up on the bridge/women falling in the bushes kept me entertained while I knocked back track #10 and every eclipse variant. 8/10 Only thing I could nitpick is the beer list, but 15 tasters above 10% in 3 hours was pretty rough regardless lol
Event was pretty good, my only gripe was the time was too short. I felt rushed the entire event, and would basically go from one line to the next. I was only able to get through 13 of my tasters, an extra hour to enjoy the beers and not rush would be welcomed.
They have been decreasing the time each year. I think when I first started going to these events it was from like 10am - 6pm. 3 hours for 15 tasters seemed a bit tough to enjoy/analyze/fuss-over and was really more just drink, get in line, forget what you drank, and repeat 14 more times.
Yeah I agree @SDReaper. not only was it hard to digest, it was too easy to get drunk. I down quiet a few because the lines were moving quickly(def not a complaint). Sadly didn't get tickets to sour fest which I regret. Comparable to other beer events it was very well run.
