So first let me say I'm a big fan of the 2.0 (and also Ruination 2.0). Bought a single of each to try as historically I haven't been a fan of their past hoppy lineup of beers. So I was considering buying a 6er of the Pale Ale the other day, but was shocked at the high price. Was listed $4 more a sixer than SNPA/Lagunitas products and $2-3 more a sixer than most all the other craft pale ale/ipa sixers in the store. Is this common around the country for Stone 6ers in general to be priced higher than comparable other craft beers? It has always seemed that way in my area of MD, but I thought I heard that other places find Stone cheaper than many competitors.

At the grocery stores around here, Sierra Nevada runs $7-8 for a sixer, Lagunitas is about a dollar more ($8-9), and Stone is usually $11ish. I'm in the DFW area of TX.

Bump the above numbers by about a dollar for most stores in my area south-west of Boston. I would expect Stone Pale Ale 2.0 to go for $12 per 6 although I haven't seen it yet.

I rarely buy Stone products because, while I like them, I don't like them enough at $12/6 versus $15/12 for Torpedo.

I've seen it at $11-$12 per 6. In some places I've seen it strangely marked up more expensively than Delicious ($12 v. $11). Still not as bad as Ballast Point price gouging.

If you haven't noticed from their marketing campaigns, they're a bit full of themselves.

If Lagunitas and SN can do it, I'm sure Stone could as well.

So it does seem they are higher than most comparable options in other places. Maybe its just CA where they get Stone 6ers at competitive/ comparable prices. Any CA folks to chime in?

9.99 a sixer in San Diego is common. My grocery store offers $1 or $2 breaks from time to time too

Stone 6 packs are usually always a bit higher than competitors, in CA stores. Regular stone IPA is never less than $9.99 unless on sale at Safeway. I used to get the old Ruination 4-packs and thought the value was decent at $10.99. I probably wouldn't pay $9.99 or higher just for their pale ale though. Would try it on tap somewhere.

I'm in north Charlotte, NC, and I just got back from the grocery store a few minutes ago. Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' and IPA were both $8.99/6 at Food Lion, whereas Stone IPA was $10.99/6. I like Stone's brews as much as the next person, and have the utmost respect for their level of commitment to quality, but I just don't see the $2 more justification. Unless I see it on sale (which is rarely, but does sometimes happen), I will always choose Lagunitas over Stone stuff. When you're not independently wealthy (like me), every little bit of savings helps !

    Where in Maryland approximately?

Sierra Nevada and Lagunitas usually are the cheapest 6 pack prices in general...

Agree, Stone is higher here ... one store example:
    Stone Pale Ale 2.0 12.99 6pack bottles
Lagunitas Pale Ale 10.99 6pack bottles
SN Pale Ale 17.99 12pack cans .....normally can get 12packs SN for 15.99 or 14.99 in area

Really? Victory at sea for under $50 a case is outstanding. Sculpin is a bit expensive though.

I did see Cali- belgique for $38 a case today. 6 packs.

    Enjoy

I have seen Lagunitas IPA in CT priced higher than Stone IPA and certainly much higher than SN. This applies to 6pks, not bombers. Lagunitas is not a staple for me. A Little Sumpin is not worth $12-13 dollars.

I never directly compared the price of Stone sixers to equivalently styled and abv-level beers from other breweries, but I'm surprised because I always found Stone to be a reasonably priced brewer.

Yes I was surprised as well because I thought I've read a lot of past posts with people talking about the good pricing on the Stone beers. Clearly in 6pack format though, they seem to be one of the most expensive in the country out there when comparing similar style/ABV with most of the other craft brewers options on store shelves or fridges. I think FW Union and Double seem to be about even with them. Ballast Point perhaps being the only well distributed brewer that is higher priced.

When Grunion and Calico first made it to my area in 6 packs, Wegmans and my local bottle shop both had them at over $13/pack. The prices have dropped since, but I'm still a bit befuddled as to why someone would charge Grapefruit Sculpin prices (which I do splurge on once and a while) for a standard Pale or Amber, respectively. By and large, Stone has been far more reasonably priced as a whole; which makes sense when you look at how much they are able to produce in a given year.
