I had this last night and it was definitely a good IPA. Was it a good coconut IPA? Kind of. The coconut's really subtle. When it was cold I didn't get any coconut at all. I let the bottle sit for a while and warm up and that's when the coconut flavor appeared. It wasn't in the initial taste but in the back end I definitely got the coconut sweetness that really blended well with the rest of the beer. If you're expecting a blast of coconut flavor, you'll definitely be disappointed.

I enjoyed it a lot, but if they amped up the coconut this beer could have been something really special.

    Disappointing, but not terrible.

I had this last night, small hint of coconut in smell at beginning. First half of bottle I liked it, by end I was sick of it.

I thought it was good, they could have upped the coconut, but I could still taste it faintly

Id say that it most certainly is a pretty tasty ipa, but the way I see it... if no one knew there was coconut in there, only 1:20 people would probably pinpoint coconut in the flavor profile. Everyone "looks" for that coconut flavor that is in there and winds up saying, "I mean, I guess I can taste some coconut?". But as previously stated, still a great ipa!

I had it last night. No coconut at all. I thought that it was a decent IPA but nothing great.

Stone IPAs, except Enjoy By, are getting marked off of my list.

If they NEVER fail in letting you down perhaps it is time you learned your lesson and stopped having such high expectations?

I REALLY like this beer! I had it side-by-side with an Enjoy By 9.13.13 yesterday, starting with the Enjoy By first. It was smooth, almost buttery, and delicious. I thought the coconut presence was rather prominent, perfectly balanced still, and surprised that a couple of my friends "couldn't taste the coconut" or some of the comments here asking for "more coconut". Then I realized that I have been eating/drinking coconuts all my life (being from Vietnam where coconut is used in a lot of cooking). Moreover, recently I drank a lot of "natural" coconut juice from cans (one every other day or so). I'm also a huge IPA fan so detecting changes in the typical IPA flavor was really easy for me. Putting 2 and 2 together, it made perfect sense that I can taste A LOT of the coconut from this beer. I'll definitely go and pick up a few more soon.

I get the coconut, but if your looking for suntan lotion levels of artificially condensed aroma and the flavor of pina-colada, this is not it. It's subtle and ties the hops together from beginning to end when the bitter finish comes out.

Solid beer, but got hardly any coconut. I think they should have left it off the name, then people's expectations wouldn't have been so let down.

I must say, the 1st one I consumed had a noticeable amount of coconut flavor, but the 2nd and 3rd (purchased because of my enjoyment of the 1st) were completely devoid of any coconut flavors whatsoever. Now I understand what some people were complaining about, and am curious about such a batch variation. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for my last bottle...

It was solid but the coconut was not there at all for me. I had this back to back with the Enjoy By and at half the price of this R&R, the Enjoy By was a better overall beer. Bottom line, If you see this sitting next to the Enjoy By, pick up 2 of them instead for the price of this one.

A coconut beer? As Homer Simpson once said, "I'm aroused...and confused!"

Not Mounds bar levels of coconut, but a hint of the flesh throughout the beer. Nice pour, the hops were really good.

My only critique would be to tone down the hops a bit so the coconut is more present.

In this one the coconut is offered in the form of an "aura".

Despite allowing the beer to warm I too did not get any coconut in the nose or taste. It was a good beer but not was it was marketed as. Hopefully the W00t stout i've got won't be a disappointment. It took forever for this Tennessee boy to track down these brews and I'm really hoping this one delivers!

I have to say, having had this on tap, I was a little disappointed. It is certainly not the Pina Colada of beer as described in the video. To say it was a passable IPA is a fair statement, but it was not what it represented itself to be. I expected the hop profile to lean much harder to tropicals, but didnt get that really. And the coconut influence? Maybe a tiny bit of what I would call a watery sweetness right on the back end. And by tiny, I mean tiny. A drinkable beer. Had Stone's trademark bitter punch. But not much else to say about it. Stone's 17th Anny German influenced IPA and their collaboration with Smuttynose on the Clusters Last Stand are both much better offerings that are out there now I think.
