Definitely had an onion garlic note to me.

It's such a disappointment when storage really affects the beer. The Ruination 1.0 I picked up was either a bad bottle, horribly stored before going on the shelf or something - practically zero hop, all malt (reminded me of an expired Hop Harvest I had once) so I couldn't fairly do a side by side. I've bought Ruination bombers off the shelf for years and never had one that was off like this - there was even a month left before the "enjoy by" date.

I bought a couple 12 oz bottles of 2.0 to do the side by side - they were not in the fridge. I could definitely tell a difference between those and the six pack I had earlier in the week that was stored cold. These weren't bad or anything, but the pack stored cold was better (more floral and fruit up front, stronger bitter finish). I was surprised how one week of not being cold made that much of a difference though. I'm wondering if people getting more "onion" flavors are trying ones that were stored warm or cold - maybe that makes a difference?

I do not believe this to be true. I think it is more solid than the previous beer... and also they released all the beers that discontinued into open source homebrewing so if ruination was your favorite you could make an exact copy.

Picked up a 6pk of Runiation 2.0 at Kays Wine and Spirits if anybody in central CT is looking for it.
Tried it last night, and I am a fan. Awesome DIPA- really drinkable for me, and packing a ton of flavor.
    Well crafted!!

Just had my first.... floral nose, clean crisp bitterness right away, a little heat from the alcohol and not as dank as I like my DIPAs but finishes very cleanly. Quite refreshing too!! I wish it was brewed year round, it would be my go-to session beer.

8.5% ABV is a session beer now? Your tolerance must be through the roof!

I assumed it will be brewed year round. It's a new version of the year round Ruination.

I was a huge Ruin 1 fan and found myself preferring other IPAs over time. The Ruin 2 is killer. I've tried it now 4Xs and can't find a reason to dislike. Delish bra.

So, seems like the first round of six packs is long gone and I'm not seeing another batch anywhere. Is production lower on the new Ruination or is it just Western Massachusetts getting hosed?

I prefer the original, the only thing I like more about 2.0 is the price...$1 more for 2 more beers. Hopefully they don't mess with their IPA or I'll pretty much be done with Stone (love enjoy by but I'm over the $10 bomber, makes ballast point seem inexpensive).

I prefer it to stay as seasonal / special release, just so I always know when its fresh and there are always so many other top shelf IPAs to cycle through during the year without any problem at all of boredom or missing out on good IPAs.

Enjoy By is $6.99-7.99 in at least a couple different states, so you might be able to find it cheaper. Might also be able to find 12oz bottles for $3-4. Totally agreed on 2.0's price and not-changing their IPA btw. 2.0 reminds me more of Enjoy By than the original Ruination. Really caught me by surprise, wasn't expecting it to be citrus-y.
