I picked up on this new beer about a week ago and have read the thread in Beer Releases, but I have not heard about any reaction to this beer. Who has had it and is it as amazing as it sounds?

    I have, and Yes.

There are a few threads on it in Pacific, just FYI.

My son and I compared it to Hoptimum last night. We both liked Hoptimum better. My son thought Ruination 10 had a bad aftertaste. I couldn't decide if I liked the aftertaste or not, and I couldn't find a good word to describe it. It's extremely hoppy, but sweet too. The word dank came to mind, although I'm not sure exactly what people mean when they use dank to describe hop character. Not their best effort.

Have your son explain it to you...

the 'dank' descriptor doesn't help too much unless you've smelled really pungent (which, by the way, is more or less what 'dank' in this context means) marijuana.

i'm not one for smoking weed (or anything, nowadays), but i like the smell. i also like the smell of cigarettes and cigars.

It was my final beer at the FW invitational.

Cut right through all my palate fatigue. Big, sweet, hoppy. I will be buying at least one bottle when I see it.

Anybody want to spill where/what states have seen it, both on tap in in bottles? Want, want, want...

The smile on his face when I used that word was all the explanation I needed, or wanted. Damn!

It was also my last beer at the Firestone Invitational... probably because after they shut down the fairgrounds some made their way into the stadium area where Firestone and Stone were still pouring.... and your right the Ruin-10 cut through the palate fatigue like a ginsu knife.

The last few beers to be poured, hope the guy in white is not you, he was ripped... haha:

I was in white. . . a white Heat jersey & cowboy hat, not hammered. But once word got out that a celebrity was there, I was pretty much just autographing titties the rest of the day. From afar, it looked like a big crowd trying to get pours of 9L Temptation, but no, that crowd was just me with a sharpie being gracious. . .

So I admittedly haven't done much of a search, but this recipe is different from the normal Ruination? If so, how?

More hops, alcohol, malt, sweetness, bitterness etc. . .

I always hear people describe weed as "dank", yet I would never use that word to describe the smell. I like the smell of it, and "dank" usually means an unpleasant (unpleasantly moist or wet) smell. My parent's basement used to flood frequently from the sum pump constantly failing, and that's what I think of when I use the word "dank". That or the smell of the locker room after football practice in high school. Oddly enough, I've gotten that "locker room after football practice" dank smell in a few IPAs (usually comes from Simcoe and Citra hops).

Agree. When I think "dank," I think either wet moldy basement or certain Dogfish Head beers.

Regarding Ruination 10, I saw something somewhere this morning saying it's "extremely limited." I sure hope not. Was kind of hoping to easily pick up at least a couple bottles soon.

Not very limited here in SoCal. The local liquor store said they received 5 cases.

Well, "dank" really isn't the right descriptor. It's more like "Dank!"
